The hall masquerade, or cosplay, even had several categories with prizes announced ahead of time.
Things were going well on Saturday night, the masquerade being telecast throughout the sprawling convention. Record attendence, with the giveaway tickets being credited for some of the crowd. As one person from the Japanese Komikmart put it, a free ticket to the convention made the airfare and Motel 6 room a lot easier to bear.
The fix was already in. A cube of glowing lucite (which was a really nifty special effect, most convention-goers agreed) which shifted colors. Almost a plaid in certain lights.
Finally, an innocent person, holding the cube said the words sealing everyone's doom.
"I just wish this could all be real," she said in her Sailor Moon Eternal costume. "Huh? Is this supposed to get brighter like that?! AAAAAAAA!"
FWASH!
His memories were confusing. One minute he'd been in perfectly normal surroundings, the next moment he was here in some crowded place which didn't seem normal at all.
