"It is time!" Chaos announced, as he was floating over his assembled champions. "The first battle of the tournament is about to begin!"
Many of the strong fighters cheered in excitement, hoping to be the first one to win.
Minako met again with her new friends. Now that they all had slept for a while, they were all well-rested and anxious about who was going to fight first.
"I hope I'm not the first one to fight," Kari said nervously. "I'd prefer to see on which power level the others are before taking them on..."
"Yeah," Gatomon nodded while she cleaned her fur. "So we can see if I have to digivolve to my Ultimate Level, or even to my Mega Level."
"Well, if they're going to follow the alphabet... Akuma would be first..." Ukyo said with a shudder.
Artemis looked around. "Well, I haven't seen him this morning..."
"After negotiating with my dear rival Q..." Chaos continued. "I'm happy to tell you that the first arena will be the mountainous planet of Rith Essa... many cliffs and rocky peaks, one wrong step and our two fighters will drop down to their doom... Quite exciting, isn't it?"
He chuckled. "But fear not, my friends... should anyone of the opponents lose his footing, he will magically brought back here in one piece... of course, he will have lost the battle by then. But enough with the patter, I believe you're all curious about just who will be participating in this first round.
First, let me tell you something about the champion Q has chosen: He's a rough military fellow, folks... A strong-willed and strong-muscled patriot of his country, and don't take him lightly just because he only fights with his hands...
Ladies and Gentlemen, let me introduce you to our opponent of this first fight: It is... Coloneeellll Guuuiiillleee!!"
The giant screen in front of the excited audience came to life and showed the crowd the picture of a muscular, blonde man, an unusual flattop haircut, wearing green military clothes and a 'dog tag'. One could see with one glance that this man was used to hard fighting, and his steely glare made it clear that he wasn't going to lose without putting up a good fight.
"Well, as you've all heard, his name begins with 'G'... so that meeeaaaannsss... Yes, folks! We will use our 'G' champion as well. I've already informed him, so he is just on his way to the arena...
While he is not as physically impressive as his opponent, he is still a boy that knows how to fight... And keep in mind, he does not fight on his own, oh no... But he is one of the best trainers of Pokémon there is... Yes, I hope you all know those adorable little critters that managed to ruin all the mothers of the little tykes who had a Gameboy at home... and our boy was allowed to take one - just one - of his teammates with him to Rith Essa. And while his Pokémon will fight for him, he will be the one who makes the decisions... And Guile won't be allowed to attack his opponent directly, only his Pokémon.
And just who is this rough little boy with the brown hair, coming all this way from Pallet Town? It is the oldest rival of Ash Ketchum, the probably best-known Pokémon Trainer within all realities where his world appears as a console game, and he's also the grandson of the famous Professor Oak... Ladies and Gentlemen, please satisfy me with a grand applause for... GARY... OAK!!"
On the screen, the image of a teenage boy with brown, spiky hair and a purple sweater appeared, right next to a massive, bipedal, dinosaur-like being with big ears, sharp claws and a thick tail.
"Gary will fight using his Pokémon Nidoking... at first, he had planned to use his champion Umbreon, but he feared that the little guy might not stand the massive attacks from such strong fighters Q and I have assembled... a wise choice? We'll see!
Well, anyway, Guil and Gary both are allowed to take two bottles of water with them, and they could choose if the water in there would be hot or cold... And don't ask why, those are just the rules.
Gary chose to fill one bottle with cold water, the other one with hot water. Guile, on the other hand, decided to use cold water for both bottles. Both battlers have now arrived on their starting points in the tallest mountain range of Rith Essa... and they are ready to rumble. Well, let's keep our fingers crossed for our champion, folks... 3... 2... 1... FIGHT!!"

As soon as Q sent him the mental command to go, Guile sprinted off his starting point atop a big rock. Whatever abilities his opponent would have... up there he would be an easy target. So he decided to keep away for a while and wait until he could see his opponent.
Gary also received the message to go from Chaos at the same time. "Let's go, Nidoking," he shouted. "And keep your guard up... we still don't know anything about our opponent and his fighting abilities."
"Nidooo..." the purple Pokémon growled.
While Gary and Nidoking climbed down the rocky hill, the water bottles hanging from his belt were awkwardly hitting his legs. Whatever was this flying cat thinking when he made these rules? A backpack would've been much more comfortable than this...
Well, at least his opponent would have the same problem...

On the highest mountaintop of the planet, two omnipotent beings appeared with two bright flashes.
"They still don't have the slightest clue about their curses..." Q chuckled.
Chaos grinned. "Yeah... letting the Jusenkyo water flow out of the shower heads was a stroke of genius, old friend..."
"I know..." Q smiled. "It was my idea after all..."
Chaos made a small loop in mid-air in excitement. "Oh, look, look: Guile is approaching Gary and his little pet..."
"Well, they can't see him because he's down there in the small fissure... but I think he already heard them. Heh, no wonder... Your little boy talks all the time, and his Pokémon pal makes as much noise as a steamroller."
"Well, the colonel looks like he's ready to strike... but I don't think the first strike will be enough to take a Nidoking down... By the way, do you plan on starting the rain soon?"
Q snickered. "Not yet, my feline friend... not yet..."
