At which point a large number of the attendees decided that being rounded up and held for someone in authority to decide what to do with them was not going to be in their day planner. At which point how little the authorities could do about it was made evident.
"This is Melissa Ortega, here at the scene of the chemical spill at the convention center. We've just heard from Sergeant Hernandez of the... what the blue (bleep) is THAT?!"
The cameraman turned his focus away from the reporter, focussing instead on the figures lifting up and away from the convention center. This was notable for several reasons - not the least of which was that many of those were doing so WITHOUT visible transport. In short, they were flying.
Some of those WITH transport were stare-worthy in their own right. One guy in golden armor was astride a pegasus, there were three dragons, five giant robots, a young girl on a broomstick, and at least one souped-up Winnebago - all going above the police cordon with apparently darn little care.
A girl in a tiger-stripe bikini moved up to the helicopter and rapped on the door.
The newscrew exchanged questioning looks back and forth before finally the Cameraman opened the door while trying to continue to film.
"You might want to move," said the green-haired girl after the door was finally opened. "They're getting ready to launch."
"Launch?" asked Melissa Ortega.
Everyone who had a car in the affected area had either moved it or unpacked it. Some had moved their cars by picking them up, others by parallel parking it elsewhere, and still others had moved them by a variety of means not available prior to the costume party.
Magneto had lashed remaining cars together with wires pulled from a variety of sources and was using that makeshift raft to carry himself and his followers away.
There was ONE vehicle which had been a costume for a car prior to the party, someone had gotten that idea and run with it including the tradition of tailgate parties. Now, however, there was a former car and driver who were neither. Instead a full scale Space Cruiser Yamato had crushed a fair number of cars in that parking lot.
