After bringing the boy back to his shop, Yoruichi watched Kisuke head into the back room while leaving the woman to look after the boy. A few minutes later, he came out holding a glowing orb, part of the reason that the three shinigami were currently living among humans. “The Hongoku?”
“The boy is currently in the process of hollow transformation. You want to stop it, this is the only thing we have that can do it,” Kisuke replied before picking up his cane and knocking the kid’s soul from his body.
He frowned at the condition of the boy’s soul, and then began pouring his spiritual energy into the orb in order to activate it. “All in all the boy’s pretty lucky. I don’t think this process would work if he didn‘t have a fair amount of spiritual power.”
The other shinigami stepped back and let the former captain begin his work. While Kisuke was busy, Yoruichi had Tessai gather some medical supplies for them to treat the child’s body of its various cuts. When she was finished, Yoruichi went back and looked over her friend’s shoulder as the process entered into its final stage. “How‘s it going?”
Kisuke took a few more minutes to finish up, then wiped the sweat from his forehead. “It worked. Although I had to adapt the process a bit. To be honest, I don’t think I could have done it if I hadn’t studied been able to study Hirako and the rest of those guys before they took off.” It was ironic really.
“Wait! You mean he has a hollow inside him?” Yoruichi shouted. “That thing is going to eat his soul. He’s too young to fight something like that off.”
“Calm down Yoruichi,” Kisuke said as he looked at his frowning companion out of the corner of his eye. “I told you when we started his hollow was still developing. Until it does, there’s nothing to worry about.”
Yoruichi looked back over to the unconscious boy, and then to Kisuke. She hated how he was so laid back about this whole thing. “How long’s that going to take?”
Kisuke shrugged. “No idea. Although since we stopped the process that human started… I’d say it’ll be a few years at the least. Until then he’s just your average shinigami.” Well, more like an adverage human since his body was still alive, but Kisuke didn't want to nitpick.
The news that the boy wasn’t in any immediate danger calmed Yoruichi down considerably. “So, what now?”
