Nabiki looked dubiously at the Rune Orb. "That is supposed to help her out?"
"I assure you that it will, in more ways than one. After all, this is something that will act as a bridge for her from forced uncontrolled violence, to something peaceful."
"No other reason?"
"We've also heard that she can't swim," the agent admitted.
"Oh, how nice! This way, even if she splashes around and falls under the surface like she always does, she'll be perfectly fine," Kasumi chirped, smiling brightly.
"Ah... yes. That was one of the reasons."
"There's more?"
"This one doesn't bring a combat capability with it. If something else were to go wrong...."
"She won't be about to fry or stomp on someone," the middle Tendo daughter observed. "At least, no more than usual."
"Pretty much."
"Still, you don't have anything a little more... useful?"
The agent gave the short haired girl a long and level look. "We're doing this for free, and after your sister used an illegal and incomplete Rune. Be happy that we're being so easy on this now."
"True. It's just that a girl can't be hurt from trying."
"Not so correct."
"Oh?"
"Your sister tried to use a Rune she got from a back alley shop to fight with. And look what she got."
That drew a wince from Nabiki. "I got your point."
"Good to know."
"Still, if your sister can show that she's learned enough from her experience, we may consider allowing her to trade in this Rune. If she does," the agent pointed out.
"That's all that we can ask for," the eldest Tendo daughter murmured serenely, while:
