The endless vastness of Outer Space... Here, nothing else can be seen than a vast amount of stars and planets.
In a very small border of the galaxy, in a Solar System so tiny, that most of the other, bigger Star Empires could never find it (let alone the yet-to-develop space travel possibilities of Earth), a very tiny sparkle of light appeared... not a star, not even a shooting star. No, it was something so tiny that even big starships would have troubles detecting it on their radar.
And even if they saw it, their crew members would quickly question their sanity.
It was a young girl, not one year older than 14, riding upon a sleek, glittering board that looked similar to a terrestrial snowboard.
She was wearing some very remarkable clothes that resembled a black swimsuit with various ornaments. On her chest, a star-shaped emblem, adorned with wing-like protrusions, was placed. She wore her long, lime-colored hair in a very longish ponytail, and on her forehead she wore a headband that was decorated with yet another star emblem.
Between her legs, a small, adolescent kitten with grey-and-black striped fur pattern was crouching. On that kitten's forehead, yet another star symbol was visible.
And the most remarkable thing was... she and her unusual 'spacecraft' were moving through the emptiness of space without any visible driving power... and the coldness, vacuum and lack of air didn't seem to faze her.
"S-sailor Star Skipper," the cat yowled while clinging to the spaceboard. "P-please, go slower! I don't believe my nerves can endure any more of this..."
Sailor Star Skipper, also known as Kou Miyuki, snickered. "Ah, you worrywart! What's the worst that could happen, Stella?"
The kitten had to grumble at that. "Remember how you nearly miscalculated our flight path... that route would have directly lead us into a Black Hole! And I don't want to get started on the meteor rain we got into..."
"So I made a few mistakes," Miyuki shrugged. "So what? Life is way too boring if you don't take a few risks..."
"Well, then at least let me out of iiiitt..." Stella screamed again, when Miyuki spun her spaceboard around in a barrel roll.
"Relax, you can't fall off," she grinned after seeing the spinning circles within her advisor's eyes. "The force field, remember?"
"You would think the daughter of Princess Kakyuu and Sailor Star Fighter would be more responsible than that..."
Suddenly, Star Skipper let out a gasp of surprise when from behind a small planet, a comet came flying.
"Wooooow..." she said in awe. "Would you look at its tail... It's soo beautiful..."
She then smirked. "You know, I just got a nice idea... What do you say we ride that thing?"
"WHAT??" Stella shrieked. "Are you insane? Comet Tail Surfing is extremely dangerous and has been forbidden by the Galactic Convention of Kinmokuuuuuu..."
Miyuki didn't listen as she made her spaceboard fly even faster, until they reached the blazing tail of the comet. Riding upon it like on a tidal wave, the young princess of Kimoku giggled and laughed. She had never had that much fun back at home. Her sometimes-father, Kou Seiya, always wanted to introduce her to the exciting aspects of life, but her worried mother, Princess Kakyuu, had always stopped the carefree leader of the Sailor Starlights in time...
But now, on her way to the planet on which she was going to spend her summer vacations, there was no one to boss her around.
Okay, there was Stella... But honestly, that cat couldn't stop her from putting a bell on her tail. Even if the tiger-striped cat was one of Miyuki's best friends, she could be a major pain at times...
But the spunky princess wouldn't let herself being troubled... She was looking forward to spending her vacations with those guys she had seen on her parent's digital photos. They were supposed to be a funny bunch of girls... And that blonde one, Usagi, was supposed to have a daughter her age that sometimes came for a visit from the future. Miyuki was convinced they would get along just fine.
"GAH! Sailor Star Skipper, watch where you're flying!"
Whoops! Now Miyuki had been daydreaming about her holidays and in her excitement didn't pay attention to what she was doing...
And while doing Comet Surfing, that could be extremely fatal.
"Whaaaaah..." both the young Sailor Starlight and her feline advisor yelled as their board spun around and was being hurled through space, as the shockwave of the comet's tail whipped them around.
"Where are you goooooing?" Stella asked while the board was tailspinning towards a relative unknown corner of this galaxy.
"I don't know," Miyuki shouted back. "I can't reach the control buttons on my belt..."
"LOOK OUT!" the cat screamed.
Miyuki had only time to look up... and just saw an approaching obstacle.
Then everything went black.
----
"Oooooh..." Miyuki groaned as she opened her eyes. "Where... where am I?"
"Don't worry, little lady, you are safe!"
Miyuki sat up and realized that she was lying on the marble floor of a big building, whose walls were glittering in some sparkling light. In front of her was a shape that looked like a giant fountain or something like that. Around that monumental fountain, seven spires with round tips were aligned, in a circular formation. All around her on the walls of the building, she could see the star-covered depths of space, through various high windows without any panes of force fields.
Next to her, Stella was lying on the ground. She was just beginning to stir.
Miyuki stood up. "Who's there? I can't see you!"
"We're up here, honey," a female voice replied.
The young Senshi looked up... and saw the weird, star-shaped beings that were floating over the seven spires. Every single one of them had a very humanly face on their front.
The one directly in front of her looked like he would be the oldest of them, as he sported a thick, white mustache.
"I am Eldstar, one of the seven Star Spirits," he said in a friendly voice. "Welcome to Star Haven."
