Despite his earlier bravado, Faroush was not as intent on starting dating just yet. Such things took careful preparation of the heart, the part of him that was Ranma remembered from Akane's favorite manga. And, from his own personal experience, he knew that it could be taken as a sign that he was interested in the girl enough to get engaged to her. That led to marriage, and marriage was bad and had to be avoided at all costs, just like cats.
This posed a problem. Miakis snuck away from her charge, probably due to said charge receiving a lecture from her father and needing privacy. Faroush tried to listen to Miakis's excuses, he really did, but when his eyes started to wander from her face and down her teddy-clad body, he made an excuse of his own and bolted.
As he had narrowly avoided colliding with his own bodyguard, who had apparently decided to forego sleep to stand guard by his door, Faroush decided to just keep on running, waving off her questions. She made to follow, he noticed as he chanced a glance over his shoulder, but Miakis chose that moment to follow him out into the corridor, and Lyon became preoccupied with that.
His father seemed like the natural choice, if he were to seek protection. But if he came running to Ferid from girls not an hour after begging to date them, he would become a laughing stock, or worse -- his father might believe the rumors after all. That left mother, dear sweet Queen Arshtat. She would understand, Faroush was certain of it!
There, her private royal chamber was just ahead! It was a bit strange that no guards were standing outside, like they had at the entrance to the audience chamber but, perhaps, she had let them have the rest of the day off. Faroush felt lucky, for there would be less witnesses to his secret shame.
"They shall BURN!" Arshtat was yelling as he forced the doors to her inner chambers to open up a crack. Faroush's eyes widened at the sight of the Sun Rune glowing majestically on his mother's forehead, pulsing with a an ethereal heartbeat. The last word out of her mouth came out with an actual echo... he had never seen her this agitated in his life. "How dare the filthy, backstabbing nobles spread vile rumors of my little boy?!"
The Prince noticed his father in the room with Queen Arshtat, and relaxed a bit as the echo disappeared, and the cold persona he had witnessed was replaced in an instant by a seething, angry woman, one he immediately reconciled with his mother. He shut the door very quietly, careful to avoid any notice, and crept back. This was bad, he knew. And somehow, it had been his fault, which meant he wouldn't escape punishment in the long run. Therefore, it was time for--
