RPG Maker 1/2: Traps, Block Puzzles and Blobs... Welcome to Furinkan Training Dungeon [Episode 179786]

After turning Akane into the White Mage of the party, Ranma also got the idea of turning Ukyo into a Xena-like amazon hero with a battle axe that's similarly shaped like her battle spatula.

"Slower than Ryoga, but can split an enemy's armor in half," Ranma suggested.

"I have to admit, you're getting the hang of this, Saotome," Nabiki nodded. "But that's enough heroes for a start, don't you agree?"

"Well, yes... but what now? Should I choose some town where they can start their adventure?"

Nabiki grinned. "How about making some sort of 'training center' instead? A training dungeon in which beginner's heroes can try out all their abilities, get used to dungeon puzzles and fight their first few monsters to easily raise a few levels."

Ranma grimaced. "I have to design every single room in this, right? Damn, that's gonna take some time."

"And what if we use some building we know as a template?" Nabiki suggested. "Like we did with the characters."

"You know a building that's big enough?" Ranma asked. "I don't think the dojo is quite enough for something like this."

"True, but... how about the school? Think about all the classrooms, hallways and sports fields. We just figure out where to place the puzzles, obstacles and monsters, and voila: Your very own Beginner's Dungeon!"

"Could actually work," Ranma nodded. "Okay, what do we have...? Some low-level monsters... Red Blobs, slime-enemies... and a few goblins."

"Good choice," Nabiki appraised. "How about some traps? Trap doors and switches that cause arrows to fly out of the wall."

Ranma grinned. He was beginning to have fun doing all of this. "Nice! And for the puzzles: Moveable blocks, switches to open some doors and platforms that are moving over water-filled pits.

"Water-filled?" Nabiki tsked. "Use your imagination, Ranma! Why should they use those platforms if they can swim across those pits? Why don't you use spike pits instead? They would be much more practical."

"True, but... when I'll fill that water with piranhas, it won't be that easy."

"Better," Nabiki admitted. "Should we put some sort of 'instructor' in there who's showing the new heroes how to use their skills?"

"Okay... that's what you call a 'NPC', right?"

"Correct! Stands for 'Non-Player-Character'. Are you gonna use someone you know as well?"

"Of course! Makes it much more interesting in my opinion. Hey, how about the principal? He's the headmaster, after all."

"That loony?" Nabiki asked sceptically. "Ranma, the heroes want some competent trainer to teach them, not someone that's more interested in giving them new haircuts."

"I'll just make sure that his ultimate goal is to train the best heroes in the country... so that one day, he can be proud of his student. He'll still be pretty loony, but not so loony that his hero students will have to fear about their health... or sanity."

"All right," Nabiki said in defeat. "It's your first game, so you can decide. But we still need a final challenge, some sort of 'Final Examination' before they can leave his courses."

Ranma thought about it. "Okay... how about we make it..."
