As Lina headed toward Atlas City, she gritted her teeth as Gourry walked beside her. She was doing her best to keep from transforming and blasting the Sword of Light.
“Little lady, are you all right?” Gourry asked.
“I don’t like being near your demon sword. All right?” Lina spat out.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know that my family’s sword was an entrapped demon and...”
Lina held up a hand. “I know. It’s just that I don’t like dealing with Mazoku if I can help it.”
‘Which I can’t since that has been inflicted on me,’ Lina thought to herself.
The two soon came to a town and started eating. An old man came up to the table and looked at Lina.
“Pardon me, miss. Are you Lina Inverse?”
Lina rolled her eyes and looked at the old man.
“Yes. I am. What do you want?”
The man swallowed heavily and looked at Lina. “This town has been plagued by a ruthless bandit group called the Black Dragons and...”
“I already took care of most of them and chased their pet far away,” Lina stated and then pointed at Gourry. “He took the last of them out this morning.”
“They’re gone? This town has nothing more to fear from the dragon?” the man asked in disbelief.
“Yep. Now let me get back to my lunch.”
“Oh, thank you. Thank you. I have to tell the villagers the good news. Maybe you aren‘t so bad after all.”
Lina shook her head and went back to eating.
“You’re famous, little girl?” Gourry asked.
“Somewhat and part of it is for the wrong things. Despite all rumors to the contrary, I have never tried to kill Sailor Magic. Idiots keep comparing me unfavorably to her,” Lina said, as she cut a pice of steak off.
Gourry closed his eyes and tried recalling facts. “I seem to recall that Sailor Magic wouldn’t attack bandits and that the person who did had vanished for a month.”
“Oh? That? She kills Mazoku. I am the Bandit-Slayer. I was working on a magic item during that month,” Lina answered and then thought. ‘I wanted to see if I could remain Sailor Magic for long periods of time. Something happened to me then, but I don’t know what.’
Lina shook her head and went back to eating.
“What was the magic item you were working on?” Gourry asked.
“A wand and it had abilities that I wasn’t sure of. I put it aside and went back to Bandit-Hunting and treasure seeking.”
“If you made it, why wouldn’t you know what powers it had.”
“I didn’t make it. I found it. Now, let me get back to eating.”
