“I think it is a Chacma Baboon,” said Setsuna. “Or maybe an early cousin, I can’t be too sure.”
“It’s a monkey!” said Minako, eyes wide.
“There is a difference between a baboon and a monkey,” said Ami. “Not very big, is he?”
“Might be a child that lost its own family unit,” said Setsuna.
The primate in question climbed up Ranma, wrapping its legs around him, and peaking over his right shoulder.
Ranma smiled, handing the baboon a few nuts he had found yesterday, and watched as the little one ate them. “I never had a pet before, wonder what I should call him.”
“We also need to name the cubs we found,” said Rei. “Preferably before Dumpling Head names them after ice cream flavors or movie stars.”
“Call him Clyde,” said Hotaru, looking at the primate. “I remember watching an American movie with a monkey, and that was his name.”
“Nah, he don’t seem like a Clyde,” said Ranma.
“You went over there ... to get a monkey,” said Minako.
“Well he seemed all alone,” said Ranma. “Besides, I’m a little hungry. You guys got that c-c-c-furry thing cut up yet?” he asked. In his mind, he did find it a bit of irony that he was going to cook and eat the very thing that scared the crap out of him.
Then again, he had never had ... well, whatever the hell that was, before.
“We may need your help,” said Setsuna, “since you would know best about what to do?”
“Well, I’d need something sharp ta cut it with,” Ranma said, the need to feed overriding the need to be afraid of the dead cat.
“Here,” said Hotaru, materializing her Silence Glaive and handing it to him. “Be careful it’s pretty sharp.”
“Um ... okay,” said Ranma. “Anyone wanna learn how to do this?” he asked.
Most of the girls noticeably paled at the thought.
Usagi didn’t hear the question, too busy getting licked in the face by the cubs.
Ranma sighed. “Just get a fire started so we can start cookin’ it.”
