Dungeon Keeper: What is a Keeper to do at times of work? [Episode 182472]

by The Divine Serpent

Ranma was currently looking at the new workshop he had created and wondered about something which he had heard from Devistus while outside Hed's workshop.

-Flashback-

Leaning over the side, Ranma’s eyes widened as he saw flowing magma below them. “What the heck?”

“Hed is a smithy,” Devistus said, letting his wings spread out as he stretched them. He had kept them close to his body while going through that cavern. “He chose this spot because he could tap the naturally occurring volcanic heat for forging. Says it’s cheaper than using charcoal.”

-End Flashback-

If he could do the same thing then it would be much easier for Smeg to work in the workshop since lava is probably at a much higher temperature then burning coal. Now if he could just figure out a way to get lava into the workshop.

After a good couple of minutes he decided to write it down on a note so that he could look it up later, right now he had to check the training room he was going to build, at least that is going to be easier then the workshop.

The room was bigger then the lair and at the moment completely empty except the well made walls and floor. The imps had done a good job. "Let's see here, I don't think that the regular training room will do good, hitting a simple dummy and dodge the flails on the arms isn't a very good practice." Ranma soon came up with a good training room. "A mix between a dojo, a gym and the old training room style... hmm that could work. Let's give it a try."

The keeper focused on the image of a room made of stone with nice black mats with neat symbols covering the floor. There was lines of training dummies that were in the shape of different types of creatures, some was wearing armour to show the different spots to attack on armoured forces. There was different lines and words on the dummies and on the armours that labeled their weak and strong spots.

The reason why Ranma knew the spots and armours of these creatures was because he had been forced, by the mentor, to read books about the good and evil creatures in this world. The new keeper hadn't really bothered to read about their background, history or nature. He had just skipped to their abilities and body-shapes to get a good hang of how he was going to be fighting against the enemies he would meet in this land.

Ranma imagined a line of ranged targets, both moving and non moving, lined along one of the walls with a good ten feet of empty space for those who were going to train with ranged attacks. There was wooden practice weapons and real metal weapons of different types along the northern wall and a line of poles with sticks sticking out in different angels that moved either left or right as each part of the poles spun.

There was also weights, a line of metal poles for balance practice, some old stylish weight lifting machines, a chain hanging through a steel pole by a hole at the top, the chain was attached to a metal orb. When you pulled the chain you lifted the orb, a rather primitive but effective training for the creatures who used brute strength most of the time.

The room appeared in the empty room and Ranma felt rather pleased with his work, it wasn't an exact copy of what he had wanted but it was very close, a few missing spinning poles, balance poles and ranged targets but that was all. "Nice, I could probably teach them the art with this place..." He blinked as he realized what he had said. "Teaching them the art? Hey that sounds like an idea!" Ranma grinned as he thought about how it would be to teach his victi- er... recruits the way of the Saotome Ryu. The monsters in the new dungeon, and some moving towards it to join the new keeper, felt a cold shiver run down their spines, even the salamanders.
