"We tried it four times you mean," said Ritsuko, looking particularly exhausted.
"We can't stall the Saotomes much longer," said Maya, looking as if she were about to fall over.
"Mein gott, you all look like hell," said a newly arrived Germanic girl.
Satsuki, Aoi, and Kaede all glared from their positions as they were quite obviously included in that description.
Gendo merely watched via monitors, sipped at his hot tea, and wondered if he would have to intervene.
"Waitaminute," said Ritsuko. "We don't want to hire these two for various reasons."
"Why not? It's the easiest way to get the Rei series trained," pointed out Misato. That making that decision would get her into a nice warm bed the fastest was merely a happy coincidence.
"There are things we don't want them poking their noses into," said Ritsuko. "See here - the interview with Ranma's Rei indicates that they've been involved in that Triad-Yakuza-Interpol war going on in Southern Japan."
"Whoa, I missed that," said Misato, grabbing up the report. "Good stuff!"
"Bet you wish you could go along," said Ritsuko slyly.
"right now I just want to go to bed" muttered Misato, suppressing a yawn.
Ritsuko shook her head, much as she agreed with her old friend. "We should plant someone temporarily with Ranma as another slave. Or two maybe. Three might be better. It IS dangerous after all. We can use the Janus Technique to plant a dominant slave persona over the real persona, so that we can have the slave call in regularly but otherwise be undetectable."
"We could use those four Rei we tried the braintaping on," suggested Maya. "We used military units - an infantry, a mechanic, a nurse, and a covert ops specialist."
"All of whom like wearing aprons now," said Ritsuko, shuddering.
"Still, whom could we get for such a thing?" asked Maya.
Satsuki, Aoi, and Kaede all got VERY busy.
"What's going on with this?" asked Asuka, looking at the screens. "You're finally getting use out of that Wondergirl Project?"
"She doesn't have the amount of self-control needed," protested Misato, seeing an unpleasant possibility for Asuka in the expression briefly showing on Ritsuko's face. "Besides, doesn't the Janus Technique have permanent side effects?!"
"It was just a thought," said Ritsuko.
Gendo Ikari considered from his room, watching the events in the command center. With a slight frown, he nodded to himself. The choice was clear. He had to know what the two Saotome had done, and how they'd managed to coax this level of performance out of that Rei unit. If he could duplicate such a thing, it would accelerate his own plans greatly.
Finally Gendo decided. Ranma would pick up his Rei unit, with apologies from someone good at making such. However they'd be sending a further apology later on - which would be in the form of
