Young mister customer screamed, turned, and ran from the big, orange-and-black feline that lunged from the shallow pool his father had involuntarily submerged in. This didn’t work very well five metres up on a bamboo pole.
“Aiyah! Young mister customer fall in Spring of Drowned Girl!”
The big cat, barrelling towards the fallen youth, slid to a halt, staring with undisguised horror at the guide.
“Tragic story, one thousand five hundred year ago, girl drown in spring. Whatever fall in spring, take body of young girl!”
A redheaded figure emerged from the waters, splashing to the bank. The tiger moved in that direction, already certain that something was very wrong with the shape of his son – and was met by two bright, wide-open, blue eyes.
“AHH!!! CAAATTT!!!!”
“Ragh?” said Genma. “Rowgh!”
“Merowww!” replied Ranma.
Yes indeed, it had seemed a good idea, at the time.
Then again, talking the Master into taking him as a student had seemed like a good idea at the time.
Genma skidded under a ‘no U-turn’ sign and bounded away through the crowds and the rain. With any luck, Tendo would have the hot water ready.
And perhaps he would have to think about putting more rocks in his son’s backpack. Even after dropping his own luggage, his son had time to take slashes at his heels as they ran.
