On the top floor of the dark Snake Tower...
King Hiss, supreme ruler of the Snake Men, was standing in the middle of his chamber, surrounded by a cloud of strange mist. His eyes were closed.
Next to the door, his two henchmen, Rattlor and Tung Lashor, were standing, looking at the scene in bewilderment.
"Your Serpentness," Rattlor finally spoke up. "What are you doing?"
"Be quiet..." the king murmured. "I finally found a way to combine my powers with the mystical energies of this tower... and bring back more of my loyal Snake Men to Eternia."
A long time ago, the Council of Elders had banished the Snake Men to a faraway dimension, where they were supposed to be imprisoned for eternity.
But now...
"Now our time has come," King Hiss whispered. "Now the Snake Men will have their revenge!" He spread his arms, which were encircled by plumes of mist.
"Sounds good," Rattlor grinned, his rattlesnake-tail rattling around in excitement. "I could use some action."
"The king told you to be quiet," Tung Lashor growled, as he pushed his sometimes friend, sometimes annoying sidekick, aside. "He has to concentrate."
"Don't push me," Rattlor replied in annoyance and shoved back. Tung growled angrily and grabbed his subordinate's arms.
"Stop that at once!" King Hiss shouted, as the brawl of the two Snake Men disturbed his concentration.
Rattlor didn't listen, perhaps because he was yowling in pain, as Tung Lashor had stepped on his tail. At the same time, he was grabbing his fellow Snake Men's long tongue.
And then, a sudden yank sent Tung Lashor stumbling through the room, crashing against his king's table with the precious reagents and chemicals.
The vials and test-tubes were clattering all over the floor, many of them breaking apart into thousands of shards, one even hitting the king in the face.
All types of venomous and magical gases were floating up from the floor, were the mixtures have triggered some unusual reaction. The Snake Men were once again happy that most of those venoms didn't affect them like they affected other Eternian creatures.
The gas was mixing with the magical mist of the king and drew off his attention from his incantations even more.
So it was no wonder that the magical spell didn't quite work out as the king had planned.
His mist did open a gateway to the faraway dimension where his other Snake Men were waiting, oh yes, but at the same time, the mixture of chemicals and magical potions had increased its effects tremendously, opening an additional pathway to a dimension that was even farther away.
And when the mists came drifting together to form a big cloud, King Hiss stepped out of the mists, covered in the dripping ooze of the potion that his minions' brawl had sent hurling against his face.
"You half-witted imbeciles," he snarled at the cowering forms of Tung Lashor and Rattlor. "Do you realize what you've done? EVERYTHING could have happened!"
He wiped his face with a piece of cloth and turned his attention back to the cloud, whose vapors were circling around, creating a passageway in its middle.
King Hiss smirked. "Well, at least my spell seems to be working." He spread his arms in a dramatic gesture. "Come forth, my loyal warriors! Our time for revenge has come!"
And then, two figures became visible in the tunnel of mist. The other two Snake Men were watching in awe.
"Welcome back to Eternia, my servants," King Hiss shouted. "Welcome... Snake Face and Sssqueeze!"
But as the two figures stepped out of the mist, a very strange voice was shouting a very strange word...
"Nihao!"
King Hiss blinked. "What?"
Standing in front of him was a snake-woman that was wearing the very same armor he once gave his loyal follower, the Snake Man Sssqueeze. And she was also sporting the same incredibly long arms that Sssqueeze had.
But, it couldn't be him... after all this was a female. And who has ever heard of a Snake Woman? Although she was covered in scales... and had a serpentine tail... and was that a forked tongue coming out of her mouth?
Strangely enough, her head was also covered with lavender-colored hair, what was very unusual for any reptile.
Standing next to her was a fellow who COULD have been the snake warrior with the stone gaze, Snake Face... but Snake Face had never worn glasses before.
The snake-woman that looked so much like Sssqueeze bowed. "You called, we came! Shampoo is ready to serve her king!"
The Snake Man with the glasses bowed as well. "We are eternally grateful that you freed us from our prison, my king... Although I am somewhat confused..." He looked around. "For a second, I thought I just came from some sort of restaurant... and a wrinkled mummy had bopped me on the head with a cane." He then shook his head and grinned. "But that can't be possible, can it?"
"Shampoo agree," the long-armed Snake Woman giggled. "Would be too too funny!"
While Tung Lashor and Rattlor were looking at each other with confused expressions, King Hiss wanted to be sure.
So he stepped up to the male half of the duo (he clearly knew that he NEVER had any female warriors among his ranks) and asked: "Snake Face?"
The green-scaled Snake Man with the glasses looked at his king in confusion. "You must have mistaken me with another of your servants, your serpentness... my name is Mousse!"
The supreme ruler of the Snake Men slumped down in one of his chairs and groaned.
