1/2 Hazard: It Always Hurts the First Time [Episode 184442]

by NyteFlite

Ryoga hadn't gone far when he'd heard it. There was no question who it was, he just hoped it wasn't anything serious. My God! What if those things had caught up to them? Damn! Ryoga couldn't believe he'd been so careless! He was out looking for a hotspring when he should've been keeping watch!

Aided by his string, he quickly retraced his steps. Ryoga reached for his umbrella out of habit, having forgotten he'd left it behind with his pack. It wasn't that he was worried about going hand-to-hand, far from it. It's just that having it gave him the option of attacking from long range and it was a better tool for blocking than his limbs.

Ryoga burst into the clearing... and found it empty save for their gear. Seeing there was no immediate danger, he visibly relaxed.

"False alarm." he concluded, while running a hand through his hair. She'd probably been spooked by an owl or something. As long as he was there he figured he may as well check on her.

Inside, Kalia was still a recovering bundle of nerves. She hadn't moved since she'd woken up. Her eyes were wide and mouth agape, chest and shoulders heaving with each labored breath. What had come over her just then? And why was she shaking? She hated this feeling, whatever it was. It made her feel weak.

"I'm better than this." she told herself.

The images from before were already retreating to the recesses of her subconcious mind where she couldn't reach them; leaving her to wonder what she'd 'seen' that had frightened her. As if she didn't have enough on her mind with the Bugrom after her and she still didn't know why that was. What had she done to them? She need to think, needed air.

It was when she moved to stand that she finally noticed she was waist deep in Ryoga's sleeping bag. "Huh?" she wondered in kawaii wide eyed fashion. It some sort of dark green whatever. Then there was this other thing, a bit bigger. Kalia lightly ran her finger across the silk like fabric of the tent and felt it give. Was it some sort of prison? Pretty flimsy if it was. And look, they'd left it open.

"How odd."

Kalia shrugged, figuring she may as well leave since they'd made it easy for her. Whoever the were.

What happened next went something like this:

Ryoga poked his head into the tent.

Kalia poked hers out.

He had been about to ask if she were alright just as she gasped in surprise. He startled her, causing her to topple back, hand reaching blindly for something to stop her fall. She grabbed his collar, pulling him down, causing him to land atop her. All these things happened in roughly the same instant, resulting in an inadvertant open mouth kiss.

A first for both of them.

Now usually, in a situation like this, there was the initial phase were the he and she are too stunned to move (which they were). Followed by that awkward moment when the two of them slowly realize the position they're in (which they did). Then came the moment where the female becomes angry, having made the wrong assumption about her involuntary male partner. While said male tries feebly to explain his innoncence (you see where this is going). It's all usually a misunderstanding you see. Which almost always concluded with -

BOOOOOMM!!

Violence.

"It's not what it looks like!"

*narrowly dodges blast*

"I'm not that kinda guy!"

*two more bursts ducked and dodged in succession*

"I'm innoc - Oh crud."

KABOOM!!!

Kalia: *hotly* "Ha.! Gotcha that time!"

Now would be a good time to be anywhere but here.
