Lina was in tears. Whether these were tears of sadness or tears of anger... that was debatable.
Lina had met her aunt, from her mother's side, again after so many years. Lina's mother never really got along with her sister, so Lina hadn't seen her aunt since she was a small child.
And only now did she truly realize how... underdeveloped she was. Oh sure, she was always going off whenever someone mentioned it, but Lina had seen other girls as... small as she was. (Never mind most of them were just hitting puberty.) Lina had always taken solace in that fact, that she wasn't really abnormal.
But her aunt! Tall and voluptuous. Just like how she remembered her mother (well, vaguely. Lina's mother was of the child-rearing philosophy that she could do no wrong if she didn't do anything at all... and so left Lina's care almost entirely to Luna.) and how Luna was built. It wasn't fare, damnit!
Lara Fischer sadly looked at her niece. "I'm sorry, Lina," she said. "I knew it was a bad idea, but your mother wouldn't listen, and Luna... well, she was the Knight of Cephied, certain she could do no wrong. By the time she realized what she was doing to you... the damage had been done."
Thanks to Luna's ideas of child care and magic training, Lina usually couldn't even think about her older sister without turning into a cowering wreak. Right now, though, rage was replacing that.
After all, Luna's ability with white magic was legendary. She could cast Resurrection without so much as a dizzy spell. So it had seemed natural to her to use lethal measures as punishments. She'd leave Lina dead for a little while, and then revive her.
Of course, doing that to a young child was dangerous enough. Multiple times? Many times over the course of a single day?
It was a wonder that Lina came out with only stunted growth...
