The silence in the room lasted for a few minutes. In that silence various thoughts were racing through the group’s minds. Ranma was wondering if he was doomed to be hounded by girls he did not know for all eternity. Minako and Makoto were shifting their gazes in a circle motion, from Setsuna to Ranma to the other Outers and back to Setsuna and the repeat the process, while imagining what kind of guy he was to get the Outers to share. Rei was wondering what Ami was going to do as she seemed to be rather stressed at the moment. The Outers were wondering how this could be true. Usagi was reaching for Rei's Manga because she seemed to be preoccupied. And finally Ami was struggling with the new protective instincts that came with being a sister.
Eventually the Senshi that was often the most rational of the bunch, though right now she was struggling with that, broke the silence. “Would you care to explain that Setsuna?” Ami asked, her voice rather strained as a growing part of her wanted to shout something about how desperate women should keep away from her brother.
The next to speak was Haruka, “Yeah, an explanation would be good. I mean he’s not exactly our type you know.” The other girls nodded their agreement, except for Hotaru who just had a deep blush on her face.
For a moment Setsuna contemplated just reaching out to Ranma and teleporting away the start ravaging…er getting reacquainted with Turquoise in this life. This thought was ended however when she saw the look in Ami’s eyes. The look was the ‘Overprotective Sister’ look she had back in the Silver Millennium. Setsuna knew that if she left now Ami would hunt her down without mercy. The last time Ami did that was in the Silver Millennium and the end result was a pour Courtier who flirted with Turquoise would be shiver in fright whenever fog was even mentioned in her presence. No it would be best if she clarified her outburst, then she would ravage…er get reacquainted with Turquoise/Ranma.
“The full story is rather complicated,” Setsuna began. “Even though we live for a very long time all Senshi need to produce an Heir to their powers. For the most part this was not difficult as there were always willing men around in the Silver Millennium. But for us,” she gestured to herself and the other Outers, “it was a bit more complicated. Haruka and Michiru were as deeply involved with each other then as they are now and hated pretty much every guy they met. Hotaru, well lets just say not many wanted to get that close to her. As for me, well being isolated at the Time Gates did not get me many opportunities for meet men. Turquoise actually interacted with us enough that he didn’t see Hotaru as anything other than the shy and sweet girl she is, Haruka and Michiru actually got to know him enough be on friendly terms with him and he was simply there enough that we got involved. Eventually Queen Serenity decided that it was best if we shared him, at least until he could provide us with a daughter. And as our fertility cycles are measured in years we would have probably ended up sharing him for a long time.”
There was a rather contemplative atmosphere in the room after Setsuna finished. The Senshi could see how this made sense, all Royalty needed a successor for their thrown after all. Ranma on the other hand was confused and still a little wary of all these girls as he still did not know what was going on. The atmosphere was ruined however when Usagi went for some cookies, bumped the table the refreshments were on and knocked over the glass of water. The knocked over glass then seemed to defy all laws of physics and splashed Ranma activating his curse.
The silence did not last long after that however, as Haruka smirked saying, “Maybe he’s more our type then I first thought.”
