"Kasumi's got Doctor Tofu, so you don't want to choose her," suggested Akane.
"AKANE!" exclaimed Kasumi. "Doctor Tofu falls apart whenever I talk to him!"
"Maybe you shouldn't have tried to seduce him when you were in high school," said Nabiki. "Now I on the other hand."
"Has Tatewaki Kuno," said Akane.
"Yeah, like I've gotten anywhere with HIM," grumped Nabiki.
"That's exactly MY point," said Kasumi.
"Uhm," said Ranma, absolutely befuddled with this development. This didn't seem to be going anywhere near where he'd expected it to. He hadn't wanted to be constantly called a pervert and hadn't wanted to turn into a girl. So why was there such incipient violence in the air?
"This is about the joining of the Schools, right?" asked Akane. "So the best martial artist should be the one to get a piece of th- I mean marry, uhm, what was your name again?"
"It was Roman," said Kasumi, "and I think it should be the best cook and housekeeper since Roman has to spend all his time with the martial arts - he needs someone to support him not compete with him."
"In which case, it is I who am the best choice," indicated Nabiki. "As Runner's business manager -"
"Uhm," repeated Ranma.
"Why don't you get a bath, son?" asked Soun. "This might take awhile."
Ranma settled into the bath and looked at nothing in particular. The whole thing hadn't been going at all well, and it had taken awhile before he realized not one of the girls was meeting his eyes. Not looking shyly away or anything like that. Staring at him, but also not seeing him somehow.
As for them getting the name wrong, he wasn't sure they were paying attention to anything but their own dispute.
