Ranma wasn't aware that the cheerful seeming girl, who was about the size of his girl form (if not smaller), was something of an oddity for a goddess of elven beauty.
Oh, she certainly was beautiful, but she was far from perfect. Most obvious of all being the one visible scar. A line starting in her forehead over the center of her left eye, stopping at the edge of the eye socket and continuing again for three more inches down into her cheek from the bottom edge of that self-same left eye.
It was hardly the worst scar on her body, she had a couple of others from serious injury that made it look tame. This included the pale, blue patch of skin that sat over her heart, where she had been piereced and killed the first time. She usually, in fact, ignored the scar that seemed to pass through her eye. It was only when she was asked exactly how she got it, that she got embarrassed and tried to change the subject.
A long time ago, Kya'Rei L'Di'Shinabon, Kya'Rei to her friends (or just Kya to those that felt her name was too much of a tounge twister), had been very reckless on several levels. One day, while unstring her bow (Eilistraee did not use bows, but her followers were allowed to should they desire it), she allowed herself to be distracted long enough to release the shaft and have smack her in the face, hitting hard enough to split the skin, draw blood, and leave that scar.
Suffice to say, an elven cleric and ranger would not like it to be known that their most notable scar came from such a moment of clumsiness.
"I am Kya'Rei L'Di'Shinabon," she said, greeting him. "I am a Dancer in the Darkness and a Wanderer under the Moon. You are to be my pupil?" By that bit of poetic chatting she meant that she was a cleric and ranger of Eilistraee.
"Uh, yeah," Ranma said. "What did you mean by given life?"
"I come from a world where worship of our Goddess was almost unheard of, even among my people," she looked Ranma up down as she circled him. "I was mortally wounded in a tremendous battle between elf and drow that I had the misfortune to fall into. Both sides reckoned me as an accursed foe, and I could not escape. In apology to my goddess, a much sorrowful priest of Labelas attempted to raise me, but was only partially successful. I was bound to that book until such time as one worthy of my Lady's teachings came to learn from me. That would be the trigger that returned the warmth to my heart."
Ranma...almost followed that. The woman was almost as wordy as a Kuno.
"Incidentally," she said. "What language am I speaking?"
"First step, find some place where we can hunt dangerous creatures. Second step, hunt said creature wearing nothing and using nothing but our swords!"
Ranma...run around naked with a very attractive, despite the scars of battle, female elf? This could be trouble...
"Why?"
"Humans are so pleasantly large in all the right ways...both varieties." And right after that it rains and Kya discovers her pupil's bles...errr...curse...
