Wild Zoids: Quality over Quantity [Episode 189816]

by The Demented Redhead

They had expected the Zoids of the twins to be low-class models. After all, looking at Genma and seeing how he acted, one would not associate high end models with such a person. If anything, Nabiki expected the Zoids to be in only slightly better shape than her own.

She did not expect to see what she saw when the transport pulled in and the tarps were removed. “What the hell?” she asked.

Akane barely looked up from her own Zoid, working on the repairs she needed, before she stopped, her eyes wide.

“Oh my!” exclaimed all three sisters.

“Neat, huh?” said Ranma.

“And exactly where did you get these Zoids at?” asked Nabiki. If what she saw weren’t fakes, then she hoped some very bad people were not on their way, looking for some very valuable stolen property.

“Found them in a cave,” said Ranko, smirking at her own Zoid.

“They really don’t get along,” said Ranma. “Guess it had to do with why they were there,” he commented.

“Took us a while to find a way so we could even move them together,” Ranko said with a smile.

“So if they start fighting with each other, we shove a pair of Pop’s old boxers inside one of the terminals.”

To the Tendo sisters’ amazement, both Zoids seemed to shiver a bit at the mentioning of their new uncle’s dirty underwear.

“And they are?” asked Nabiki, hoping she was just hallucinating.

“This is Rex,” said Ranma. “He’s an Energy Liger.”

“And this is Felicia,” Ranko added, “a Geno Saurer.”

By now, Nabiki was starting to hyperventilate. “And you just ... found them?”

“Yes,” smirked Ranma. “We found a cave some dumbasses were hiding in, experimenting or whatnot.”

Ranko nodded. “We kicked their asses, turned them in, and partnered up with these two. Given how poorly Pops manages things, we figured we would keep the money and tell him we found them in an abandoned cave. Hell, we tried turning him in a few times as well, slippery bastard keeps getting away from them.”

“Didn’t know someone underage could sign for so many damned loans,” muttered Ranma darkly.

“That reminds me,” said Ranko. “You better make sure Pops can’t own anything dealing with the team, otherwise those debt collectors he owes might try and seize this place as well.”

Nabiki numbly nodded. She recalled about a year back, some Backdraft knockoff was caught performing experiments on Zoids. But the police had never released the names of the persons responsible for breaking it up.

So not only did her father hire two people with apparently some fighting and some Zoid piloting skill—if they could pilot two Zoids that apparently hated each other—but had some very powerful Zoids. If what she saw was true, then her father’s pipe dream of S-class might not be so unrealistic after all. Maybe things were starting to look up for them ... assuming she could keep Genma’s name off any ownership records. Worst case, she would ask her father when he returned drunk to sign some forms to ensure such. But it seemed the worst was over.

“YOU!”

Spoke too soon, she thought to herself, turning with the twins, to spot the other two hires for the Wrecking Crew, glaring at the twins. Somehow, she just knew this would be a bigger surprise than the two Zoids before her.
