The instant they were in the transport tunnel, the genie knew something was wrong. The tunnel should have been a kaleidoscope of rainbow colors. Instead it was dark gray, purple, and black.
'Uh oh.' thought the genie. 'This wasn't supposed to happen. There's no telling where this will lead.'
Ranma yelled, screamed, and hollored in pain as the transport tunnel tried to utterly rip him apart. He had never know such pain. It was obvious to him now, from the way the genie was looking horrified and sad, that something was very wrong with this transport spell thing.
The genie saw Ranma was about to die. Either the tunnel would rip him apart, or he would die when it sent him to Hell. How the tunnel had locked onto Hell he didn't know.
The genie did a desperate thing, and reared back his arm, then punched a hole through the tunnel. He watched as Ranma was sucked through the hole in the transport wall. At least Ranma would be sent to some world, instead of torn apart, or going to Hell.
'Time for me to get out of here.' thought the genie. 'I have to get out before the tunnel reaches it's end. Unless I want to go to Hell. Which I do not. I'll just go and... perhaps... follow... Ranma.'
The genie was surprised. The hole should have closed up when Ranma went through it. But it was still open. The genie dove through the hole then. And it sealed up behind him too.
