"Nice k-k-kitty," stammered Ash. "Huh? You're talking?"
The cat rolled its eyes. "D'uh. SPIRIT animal. Magic. That's why I've got plural in my tails, you diggin' me?"
"Oh?" asked Ash. Sure enough, now that he was hiding behind a convenient rock and could peer around it, he could see that the kitty had more than one tail. It started out as one tail, but split into four about a two-thirds of the length down it.
"You got some interesting things going on around you mortal," said the cat. "Not sure what they all mean. As for that Nurse and those twins - hotCHA."
Ash had a sudden horrible suspicion that he was stuck with Happosai. "How do ya know about them?"
"They're in your near-term memory. That stuff I can access through our bond," said the kitten. "I'm Kurokaze by the way."
"Ran... I mean, I'm Ash Ketchem," said Ash. "People just call me 'Ash'."
The kitten yawned again. "You got some nice lifeforce there. Try not to call me out when I'm not needed though. Kittens need their sleep and all."
"So what kinda magic can you give me?" asked Ash.
The cat smiled. "Mind you, I can only loan you one spell/effect now. As I get stronger and you get more able to handle what I can give you - that'll change and you'll get more. Right now all you've got is:"
