Ranma took a long look at the long haired brunette and blinked. "You're a doctor?"
"What? Don't you think that a young woman like me could be one?"
"Actually, I was kinda wonderin' why a doctor would wanna work in a team of maids."
"Oh. I see."
"Still, what 'xcatly makes someone like ya wanna be a maid, or whatever? It's not exactly the most impressive thing ta tell people about...."
"Even when it comes with my own lab, full funding, and the opportunity to take my research where I want it, without having some government or corporate boss tell me to get some 'results'?" she asked, raising her brow at him as she did so.
"Put it that way.... Still, you're human. And those gals.... It's like I'm all surrounded by robot girls or somethin'...."
"To be honest, there are a lot of them. But some of the people working for you are certainly human."
"They are," the pigtailed boy asked, frowning slightly in confusion. "It's not all robots?"
"Of course not. If nothing else, who would design and build them in the first place?"
He winced as he realized that he'd passed that simple factor by. "My grandfather wanted them for...."
"Being what they are. Completely loyal, able to do all sorts of work, and looking really attractive as they did so."
"Gotcha."
"To tell the truth, he never really treated them all that badly. Some people might have wondered about having a remote to control their 'machines', but he always acted as if they were normal, if rather pretty, girls."
"And what 'bout ya? What d'ya think 'bout them?"
"Honestly? They're like... my children," Lorelei admitted, allowing a warm and far away look to enter her eyes. "I make them, and then raise them into being their own people, hoping that they will grow to be as great as I think that they'll be."
"That's a nice way ta look at them. 'Xcept for one thing."
"What's that?"
"I ain't too sure about this," he told her, pointing at the button labeled 'Sex'.
A flush rose up on her cheeks, and she had a bit of trouble with looking him in the eye. "They are capable of doing 'it', and do seem to enjoy themselves. And they have all sorts of programs that help them to adapt to whatever they, or their partner, would like."
"So, you're tellin' me that they'd all come ta me if I asked? Sounds kinda... creepy. Is that gonna include all the human girls too?"
"Actually...."
"Yeah?"
"I'm sure that at least some of the human women and girls would be willing to... entertain you. They don't seem to mind the idea, and I'm sure that they'd be attractive enough for you to enjoy them...." she murmured, looking rather put out by having to reveal that.
Not that Ranma was all that better, as he had stiffened up, save for the way that the corner of his right eye twitched, while:
