Ryoga shrugged. "Could be. But I'm not too sure if she'd be amazing or not."
"I didn't mean her skills... 'xactly. What I meant was how she's not taking ta her first trip on rough seas."
"Ahh.... Well, it isn't that bad. I didn't exactly do perfectly on my first trip myself."
"Ya didn't?"
"Nope. My home town's in the mountains, so being on the sea isn't something we do regularly...." Ryoga admitted.
"Really?"
"Yeah. It isn't like everyone is going to be raised somewhere they'd get used to every battlefield."
"Unless they got dragged from one to another," the pigtailed boy put in.
"Like you?"
"Pop thought it the best way to train. What about ya?"
"My family tends to... wander."
That confused Ranma enough for him to frown, and he took a moment to wonder about what the other boy meant. Glancing out at the rolling sea, he used how there was only sky and water around them to let his mind do the wandering. But he didn't really see a reason to ponder the question for long, and brushed it off.
Of course, doing so wasn't hard when the pigtailed teenager saw certain shapes surfacing and heading heading toward the ship. "Oh man, not those manta-ray monsters again."
"They're called ixichtl," Ryoga corrected him, catching a glimpse of what the other boy was looking at.
"That's easy for YOU to say."
"Nah, it's not easy for ANYONE to say."
"Guess it'd make anyone cranky if they had a name like that then," Ranma drawled. "Think that they're heading this way for a nice little visit?"
"Well, I think that they're going to be visiting no matter what. But I doubt that it'd be 'nice'," Ryoga responded with a snort.
"When is it ever?"
"True...."
"Guess that this trip's not going to get easier for her, that's for certain," the blue eyed boy commented, glancing at the girl that he was holding on to.
"At least she's sleeping through it."
"And that's a good thing?"
"Could be," the boy in the bandana answered as the monsters came up near the ship, ready to rise up, while:
