Tired, battered and disappointed in their cowardly legionaries, Petza and Cavalera hobbles back to the Roman camp of Babaorum.
Suddenly, Petza started chuckling.
"Have you completely lost your mind?" Cavalera asked her fellow centurion.
"On the contrary!" Petza grinned. "I just realized that the current situation couldn't be better. I mean, does it matter if we guard the child or the Gauls? We just have to make sure they don't take it out of the village."
"You're right!" Cavalera said with sudden awe. She grinned. "I'll put up spies all around the village right away!"
"Good!" Petza smirked. "And the best of all, we don't have to put up with the little brat's moods anymore. The Gauls will get quite the surprise if they try to get along with him."
Petza was indeed right. Let's take a look at what happens the next day during lunchtime, inside Usagi's hut, which she was meanwhile sharing with Mamoru.
Trunks pushed the roasted boar away from him. "I can't stand that yucky stuff!"
Usagi and Mamoru looked at him in surprise. "Since when is pork roast yucky?" Usagi wondered, her mouth half full with her own lunch.
Mamoru looked at the boy sternly. "Well, you're eating what we have, we don't have anything else."
Trunks looked at him grimly. "Well, then I'll just hold my breath until you bring me something better."
And he did just the same he did back when he was pestering Petza on their way to Babaorum.
Mamoru and Usagi looked at each other in worry. They were now responsible for the child, and after all, he was a chief's son.
"Well, wh-what would you like?" Mamoru asked.
Trunks let out his breath and leaned back in satisfaction. "Some fish would be fine."
Mamoru sighed. "Usagi... would you be a dear and buy some fish?"
"But... but my pork will get cold!" she protested with a whine.
But in the corner of her eye, she saw how Trunks was already taking a deep breath, preparing to hold it.
Usagi grimaced. "All right, all right, I'll get you some!"
She angrily stomped out of the hut.
Mamoru looked down at Luna. "The boy turns out to be quite the handful, does he?"
The black cat nodded. "Yes, but at least there's one good thing about the whole situation."
"And what would that be?"
Luna grinned and licked her lips. "We'll finally have some fresh fish in the house!"
Haruka was surprised when she saw none other but Usagi approaching her fish shop.
"You don't come and buy fish very often," she pointed out.
"Yeah, but right now I need one very quickly, my pork's getting cold!" the pig-tailed Gaul tried to explain.
She looked over the fisherwoman's wares and chose one big trout, which she picked up by its tail fin. "I'll take that one!"
"Three sesterces!" Haruka said.
Usagi's jaw dropped. She knew she had forgotten something.
"I... I totally forgot to bring some money..."
Haruka frowned. "No money, no fish!"
She blinked in surprise when she saw what Usagi was doing next. The young menhir delivery girl took a deep breath and held it until her head was turning red.
Haruka sweatdropped. "Um, okay... you can pay me with a menhir. We can always use one of these in the house."
When Usagi came back with the fish, Mamoru welcomed her. "Ah, there you are! I'm afraid we won't need the fish anymore... Trunks tried the pork roast and he liked it so much that he ate it completely." He grinned nervously. "He... even ate yours!"
"WHAT??" Usagi screeched. She took the trout like a massive club and stormed into the house.
A few seconds later...
"OW!!!"
Mamoru ran inside. "What happened?"
His girlfriend's finger was in her mouth. "He bit me!" she complained.
Trunks threw her an angry glare. "She wanted to hit me, with that fish!"
Mamoru groaned.
"Usagi, you have to remember, the boy is your guest," Luna spoke up from the ground. "And he is a chief's son, so cool down!"
Usagi closed her eyes, counted to ten and sighed. "All right..." she nodded.
Mamoru smiled. "Good girl! Now I have some work to do, so I see you later." He left.
Usagi took the trout and turned to leave as well.
"I wanna play!" Trunks shouted after her.
"Play with Luna," Usagi shouted back. "There's something I have to take care of..."
Trunks turned around and looked at the black-furred feline with a grin.
Luna gulped.
"Take the fish back?" Haruka protested in outrage. "This is no fish rental, you know?"
Usagi tried to explain why she didn't need the fish anymore, but at that moment, a feline yowl pierced the air.
"LUNA!!" she shouted, dropped the trout on the other fish of Haruka's shop and ran back to her hut.
She gasped when she saw her cat running around in circles, a mouse trap attached to her tail.
"GET IT OFF! GET IT OFF!" Luna screeched.
Usagi quickly helped her feline friend and gave Trunks, who was standing next to the hut's door, a dark glare. "All right, I've had enough!" she grumbled and took a step closer.
Trunks nervously backed off. "R-remember, I'm your guest, and I'm a chief's son... so cool down."
"Give him a proper spanking!" Luna demanded, licking her hurt tail.
Suddenly, a voice stopped Usagi in her tracks.
"Hey, Usagi!" Haruka shouted as she came up behind her.
"What now?" Usagi sighed as she turned around.
Haruka grinned and threw her something, which she caught in surprise. It was the trout.
"You forgot your fish!" the fisherwoman smirked.
Usagi gritted her teeth. "LOOK WHAT I'M DOING TO YOUR FISH!" she screamed, hurling the trout through the air.
Haruka shrugged. "You can do what you want with your fish, you bought it."
She turned to leave, but suddenly, Makoto came storming up to them from across the street. In her hand, she was holding a very familiar-looking fish...
"Who's the owner of that trout that hit me in the face?" she demanded to know.
Usagi pointed at Haruka. "It's hers! She lent it to me."
Haruka was turning red. "Why you..."
"Ah, that's all I needed to know," Makoto frowned. She grabbed the trout's tail... and brought it down on Haruka's head.
SPLASH!
With a satisfied grin, she walked back to her workshop.
Haruka grimaced, picked up the trout and threw it after the blacksmith with all her might. Makoto was able to duck in time, though.
The tall brunette turned around and stuck out her tongue. "Missed me! Missed me! Missed..."
WHAP!
Rei angrily whacked the backside of Makoto's head with the trout. "What's the big idea, throwing trouts at other people's heads?"
Luna and Trunks observed the whole scene from the sidelines.
"Wow!" Trunks muttered. "All of that because of a little fish? That's not good..."
"You said it..." Luna whined. "Treating such a tasty piece of deliciousness like that should be forbidden..."
