All that Genma had cared about when he saw the house was that it was a sturdy structure. It didn't matter to him that the walls needed repair, or that the floors needed a good cleaning. By his reckoning, there certainly were worse places to sleep. When a man had to sleep in caves and sheds, he wasn't as particular about living spaces as he might have been. Though, he was also rather pleased by the size, as it gave him some arm room, and he though it might be good to be able to have some space.
For Ranma, it was something amazing though. To a little boy, the chance to scramble around a house with all sorts of strange and neat little nooks and crannies was something to be enjoyed. He never stopped to think that if he'd been there back at the height of the clan's power, he would have been able to have other children running around to do what he said, as those kids would be practicing being maids, valets, and other sorts of servants. Instead, he took advantage of the opportunity to have some fun, and was only mildly put out by the fact that he had no one to play with.
Of course, he wasn't all that sure that he wanted to share what he'd discovered. He knew that he was surprised that his new home had come with something special like this, and so others would have been interested in such a thing. As it was, he knew that his 'discovery' made the place even more 'special', and he got interested in the way that only a little boy could. Like something out of a television show, he had a neat 'oddity' that could be the source of all sorts of 'adventures'.
Not that he completely understood the facts behind it, as all he knew until he got to be old enough to comprehend it was that his home had its own:
