Running a hand through his hair, Ranma sighed. "The way that I figure it, we'll have to go to this monastery of hers."
"We will?" Rei asked, sounding only mildly surprised.
"Pretty much. Remember, they were probably attacked too, and, if nothing else, we'd better go and see if they need help."
"You do realize that if they were hit by the same creeps that we were...."
"Yeah, it might already be too late."
Usagi's eyes widened, and she looked between the two who'd saved from the well. "What does that mean?"
"I'm sorry, but...."
"Your friends from the monastery might already be dead," Rei bluntly admitted. Shooting the other girl an apologetic glance, she shook her head. "And if they did survive, there's a good chance that they've been taken to be slaves by those 'bad men'."
"But... but...."
"That's not for certain yet," Ranma put in, trying to forestall another crying jag.
"It isn't?"
"We won't know for sure until we get there."
"And if it isn't that bad?" Usagi asked, her wet sapphire eyes pleading for good news.
"Then we'll help out, and see if we can't get some help for ourselves too."
"They'll do everything that they can! I'm sure of it!"
"Of course," Ranma murmured.
"I can't wait for you to meet them. I know that it'll be a wonderful time!"
"Well, lead the way...."
Watching the blonde go off, Rei leaned in to whisper to the prince. "You do realize that it's likely to be a hollow hope."
"Got to give her something, for now."
"True. Though, there has to be some sort of reason that they'd go after those guys. I mean, that monastery isn't even one that fights."
"Maybe they just don't like religions. At least, ones that aren't theirs. They went after you, remember," he reminded the raven haired girl.
"You're right about that...."
"Still.... We can't know what the real reason is until we get there."
"And if there's something secret that drew those creeps there?"
"Then we really have to know," he told her, with his look expressing just how important that the concept was to him. Not that he had to communicate much of anything, since it was clear that leaving the bad guys to get something 'special' wasn't a good idea.
"Start going then?"
"Absolutely."
The raven haired priestess nodded, and the pair headed off after the blonde, while:
