The split second the Orc captain's eyes saw that beam of light from the moon strike the black unit, all the life drained out of him. The air around him felt colder as if he could feel the caress of Death throughout his entire being. He couldn't even hear the desperate requests from his subordinates for orders as his mind was entirely paralyzed except for one stray thought... 'N-no way... it's impossible!'
He felt something hard impact his ship and this seemed to bring him back to reality. "What was that?!"
"One of the other ships just disabled our engines while they're all reversing course! They're using us as a shield!!" reported a crewman.
It's no use... everyone's too deep within the range of the Cannon...
He froze when he heard a warped voice speak into his head. 'Where did that voice come from?!' Judging from the reactions of his crew, they were all experiencing something similar.
Before you die... let me thank you for releasing the essence of fear for me to absorb. I promise to make good use of it when I overthrow my other...
Before he could ponder about what the hell he was saying, a flash of white emerged from the black unit... and then he knew no more.
As soon as he had fired the trigger, the strange sensation that clouded his mind started to lift and he started feeling like his old self again. 'I... what the hell have I done?!' His monitors showed him the powerful energy discharge heading towards the Orcs.
Rosa's weak voice came through his radio. "My God... you actually fired..."
'No... for the love of God, please tell me that I actually missed that shot...!' It was of no use as the energy discharge completely incinerated the Orc fleet and sent a powerful mental backlash consisting of each and every crew member's fear and pain to the GX pilot's mind. Then there was that strange residual energy that seemed to be coming from the location itself which seemed... saddened?
But he couldn't take note of it or the strange reaction of the mysterious cybernetic helmet that lay at his feet as he gripped his head and screamed.
"WWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"
While he continued to scream, the GX's propulsion system shut down and gravity pulled him down into the water where it continued to descend to the bottom of the sea.
"Get him to the medical bay quickly!" The emergency response team wheeled Jamil Neate out of the room where he had just collapsed after the computer system had shown the discharge of the Satellite Cannon by the unidentified GX unit.
"It seems that the past is still continuing to haunt us," murmured Lancerow while a worried Sala absentmindedly carressed the wedding ring that Jamil had given to her.
