"Oh, well, as to that, I'm having to borrow the power for the transfer and setup," said the dragon. "That means there are strings attached. There are also apparently an awful lot of rules and such about inserting someone back in a timeline. Especially when the original body has been cremated."
"...so that explains the why," said Akane, thinking that there was an awful lot left unsaid but that wasn't the point she wanted addressed anyway. "That leaves the-"
"How you get reinserted?" asked the dragon. "Well, I'm afraid that you're going to be" (claw pinches dropcloth and whips it off a concealed form) "a catgirl!"
"WAGHHHHH!" cried out Akane in horror for a brief moment before her eyes crossed. "What? What IS that? I can't seem to focus on it."
"Something I've been working on in my spare time," admitted the dragon. "I've taken the typical anime catgirl, gynoid, and maid character and boiled it all down to a basic definition template of variables."
"You what?" asked Akane.
"Take characters like Chachamaru from Negima and Mahoro from Mahoromatic - both are gynoids or female-shaped androids, but what are their common essences?" asked the dragon. "The same with maid characters like Mahoro versus those of Hanaukyo Maid Team. Catgirls run the gamut from Annapuma in Dominion to Sanada from UFO Princess Valkyrie - what do they have in common?"
"Why would anyone care?" asked Akane, still trying to figure out what she was looking at. It was translucent and misty and seemed to have a shape but no details she could focus in on.
"Because figuring out such things is necessary to have a spell or curse to do it with," said the dragon. "Mages use Flesh To Stone and Turn Rock To Mud - how much more useful would be a Catgirlify or Maid Polymorph spell. Just think how that would affect prison overcrowding."
"That is too weird for words," said Akane.
"Okay, the truth is I was curious one day and I got kind of caught up in the research," admitted the dragon. "Still, all I have to do is grab your spirit -"
"HEY!" said the grabbed Akane as a tail curled around her.
"Take this aspect," continued the dragon making a gesture over the table that had some of the translucent whatever start forming a ball, "combine the two."
"AHHHHH!" said Akane, abruptly hurled into the ball.
"Then insert you into the correct point in the ceremony that Shampoo and Ranma are performing," said the dragon. "Here we go."
"WAHHHHH!" exclaimed Akane as she was sucked into the scene.
"Have a nice life Akane. Wait a minute. Why is there still essence left?" said the dragon's voice before Akane couldn't hear anymore of it.
No, now Akane was looking at a surprised looking Ranma and Shampoo and determined that she was-
