Soul Searching

Chap 3: This time, it gets bizarre.
Ranma was out by the dojo doing a few kata before bed. He paused in the air as a tortured scream rang through the district. ‘Huh. That sounded like Pops. Eh, probably ran into Happosai.’
Ranma, during his musing, failed to notice his rapid descent according to the laws of physics he was so blatantly ignoring. SPLASH As luck (or the curse) would have it, He (now she) was directly above the Koi pond when he was distracted. Sputtering, she walked out of said instrument of curse triggering and turned to glare at it. The Koi were not amused. Ranma sighed. “Might as well go wash up.” Wringing out her shirt on the way, Ranma casually tossed the silk garment into the hamper before sauntering toward the furo.
Elsewhere, North of Nerima...
“Where on Earth am I Now ? ” Hibiki Ryouga screamed to the heavens. He was standing outside the gate of Nagi Sanzenin’s Mansion (facing away from it, actually).
Ayasaki Hayate, butler in debt, looked up from his daily duties, aside from whatever asinine and completely of subject duties his ojo-sama may have given him (battling talking tigers and murderous nursing robots comes to mind). “Umm, you’re just north of the Nerima District. Might I ask where you’re going?”
Ryouga, not hearing him, simply walked straight ahead, mumbling to himself. “Alright, I made that left at Big Ben and the right at the White House, so the Tendou Dojo should be right around the Pyramids...or was it that leaning tower?”
Hayate blinked. “Huh?” When he opened his eyes again, the strange man was gone. “...but he was just right there... Is he related to Isumi-sama?” Shrugging, he continued to sweep the driveway. (Why he was sweeping the driveway of a mansion, well, that’s a story for another chapter)
Nagi sat in her study, staring at a picture with a red-headed woman in a Kimono carrying a covered sword. “Auntie Nodoka...”
There was a soft knock at the door. “Come in...” Nagi whispered softly, still staring at the picture.
Maria, the red-headed maid peeked in to the room. “Nagi, Your grandfather is on the phone. He wishes to speak to you about the inheritance thing.”
Nagi suddenly shimmered with an red aura. “Tell him to stick it in his ear.” She growled.
Maria winced at Nagi’s tone of voice. “Alright, but I think you should talk to him soon. He seems really anxious about something.”
Nagi’s ears perked up. “Anxious? Grandpa’s almost never anxious. Here, I’ll talk to him.” Maria handed Nagi the phone. “Whatcha want, Gramps?”
“Now, Nagi, that’s no way to talk to your old man.”
“I’ll talk to you however I want, you crabby old coot, now what do you want?”
“Fine, be that way. I guess I won’t tell you about what your long-lost cousin has been up to in Nerima.”
“Whoa, whoa, back up a sec. I have a cousin in Nerima? Why don’t I know about this?”
“I’d be surprised if you did. I myself only found out about him when Nodoka called ab-“
“Auntie Nodoka called!? When!? What time!? Where is she!? Did she find Ran-kun!?”
“Yes, Last week, round seven, Juuban, yes, he’s in Nerima...how do you know about Ranma?”
“You know how Auntie Nodoka is.”
“Ohohohoho, how can I forget? She was a terror when she was younger. Why, I still remember the time when she-“ CRASH!!! “What was that crashing sound?”
“I have no idea.” Nagi turned to Maria and nodded. “Go tell Hayate to find out what that was and clean it up.”
Maria sweatdropped. “But-“
“Now, Maria!”
Maria sighed and walked off to find Hayate. ‘I don’t think it occured to her that I could do so just as easily. Oh well.’ She paused at a hallway junction. “Let’s see, Hayate was out by the front gate sweeping the driveway, so considering his unnatural work ethic and sturdy body, he should be about finished by now.” She walked to the front door to check her theory. “That is, of course, unless something completely different happened to him while he was sweeping the walk.”
