Mara, a former demon, had been converted over to the side of the Gods. As a result, the balance between the Gods and the Demons had been upset. It would not do for a Goddess to be wandering about with no Demonic partner with which to form a Doublet. She would almost certainly be hunted by the more...enthusiastic members of the Demonic side.
As such, a mortal would be chosen to become Mara's new Doublet partner. That mortal was:
