Rei nodded, following silently like a pale shadow.
"It's not as bad as rumors would have you believe," said Genma.
"So," said Ranma. "No half-crazed swordsmen buying mail order cursed artifacts?"
"No doubt exaggerations," replied Genma.
"No voodoo wannabes summoning frog-demons?" asked Ranma.
"Probably not," said Genma.
Ranma looked up, took out an umbrella, then unfurled it so that it covered himself and Rei. "Rain of slugs?"
"Ridiculous," said Genma.
splut
Genma reached up and pulled the slimy thing off his head. "You call that a 'rain'?"

"Wha?" asked Genma as he made a classic mistake. Which was looking up. With his mouth open.

"PTAHHHH! AKKKK! BLEAH!" managed Genma as the rain ended.
"Not to mention 'ick' and 'ugh' and 'gross,'" added Ranma as he checked to see that the little purple-green cloud had dissipated and then started shaking slug-splatter from his umbrella.
"GAHHHHHH!" said Genma, looking around. Ah, a bar. "Be right back."
Ranma gestured to Rei, and they found a nice tree to wait under.
Rei got out her Guide To Metropolitan Tokyo and started flipping to the relevant section.
NERIMA

Rei scanned further, finding the appropriate section.
_FURINKAN
Lacking the cabbage fields of Daikonkan and the industry of Hikarigaoka, Furinkan Ward has its own special charm for those who like a taste of adventure.Caution should be given to the casual shopper as the cursed stores and haunted sites still claim a few tourists every year. Incidental to this are the insanely powerful martial arts battles frequent to this section.
Quaint yet lethal weaponry utilized by exotic martial arts styles seen almost nowhere else in the world is considered a big draw.
"Cabbages?" asked Rei.
"Cabbages and radishes," said Ranma. "I've heard of Furinkan before. That kid, whathisname - the one that got lost all the time? He talked about it once. Said he got chased around by a swarm of pixies."
Rei raised an eyebrow and started looking. She'd never seen pixies and thought they'd only existed in ads for certain anime series. Then again, she'd never heard of a rain of slugs either.
Genma finished washing his mouth out and trying to get rid of the taste of slug. "Okay. Now we should be almost at the Tendo place."
