"She received a spirit beast that allows her to clone herself," corrected Professor Oak. "Fascinating really. When she gets control over it - just imagine the possibilities. She can have a threesome all by herself."
"Ash got something BAD," said Brock.
"Well, maybe, possibly, potentially," said Professor Oak.
"Can we disuss this?" asked Brock, struggling in the ropes holding him to the platform.
FLOOOP! went a tube of jelly, discharging its contents into the room.
He floated in the void. Restful. Peaceful. Drifting.
"Ash. Ash? Ash!"
Except for some idiot yelling in the background, he couldn't remember it EVER being this peaceful.
"Okay, well how about 'RANMA?!'"
He blinked and sat up in the formless void. "HAH?! What? WhereamI?"
"Bout time," said someone sitting in a chair off in the void. It was a little disconcerting to see someone sitting like that at a 45degree angle when both of them were suspended in nothingness.
"Okay, who are you and where are we?" asked Ranma/Ash, flicking from one form to another.
"I'd tell you who I am, but it wouldn't make much difference would it?" asked the old man. "I'm more or less on your side. Certain exclusions, restrictions, and limitations may apply. Offer not available in all areas."
"Huh?" asked Ash/Ranma.
"You're accessing the buffer right now," said the old man. "We only have a few minutes to communicate. You remember your previous life as 'Ranma Saotome' the martial artist, right?"
"Yeah," admitted Ranko before switching back to Ash.
"Well, there are other people who remember and they will kill you again if they find you," said the old man.
"So?" asked Ash. "Dead ain't permanent."
"It'll hurt, and then you won't remember being Ranma," said the old man. "They might even make you into a very girly-girl in the next life. One that REALLY likes boys."
"Ick," said Ranma.
"There are others who will be on your side as well," said the old man, "but it isn't going to be easy to tell which is which. Right now I've helped you all I can."
"How's that?" asked Ranma/Ash.
"You've got a cheat code attached to you, the Schrodinger's Cat," said the old man. "When you learn to control it, you can nudge probabilities all over the place. Right now you can teleport, put up forcefields, and throw plasma arcs. When you're better at it, you'll have other abilities."
"Hey, you know I was Ranma," realized Ash. "Does that mean I know you from then?"
"You did," admitted the old man, scratching his beard. "I don't think you'd recognize me though. This is all the time we have for now, Ash. I'll try to send an ally your way when I can..."
Ash startled as the darkness cracked open and a colossal eye stared from the hole left as the comforting darkness. Then he abruptly kicked out and was in a forest somewhere.
"Whoa, and I didn't even eat any of Akane's cooking for a weird dream like that," said Ash as he considered the sky overhead.
Getting up and dusting off his body, he quickly realized that he was currently naked and in a circle of charred earth. That meant he ought to:
