"Why do they have to make this thing so complicated?" complained the Professor. "I just want a frigging cup of coffee!"
One of his pokegirls sighed, rolled her eyes, and began working the various slides and pumps that would produce a relatively normal cup of coffee.
The Professor grumbled about the overly complex coffeemaker he had, but with actual coffee beans as hard to get as they were - some alchemical processes were necessary just to acquire the desired beverage.
A crystalline dodecahedron, known as a Crystal Ball despite the shape, lit up.
"Bah," said the Professor, tapping a facet. "Professor Oak here."
"Professor," came the voice and image shimmering on the Ball. "How goes the current candidates."
"A few surprises, a few good, a few not so good," said the Professor. "Standard grouping in other words. How's your research, Professor Ivy?"
"The precogs are getting hints of trouble your way," said Professor Ivy. "Watch for trouble from the water. Any particularly promising trainers?"
"A couple," admitted the Professor. "One I wouldn't have had any hope for seems to have gotten his act together."
"That's good," said Professor Ivy. "In any case, I've a favor to ask..."
"Having some troubles, Ash-kun?"
"You could say that," admitted Ash as someone nibbled at an ear.
Shinobu smiled at that. Ash looked like he had his hands full with that succubus. She could be glad her nekomata didn't have that problem.
