"It's okay, my soul is already on fire."
Until Roxas, Zexion had been the youngest of the Organization members, now he found himself the oldest within this group he had founded. He did not know if he would be pleased or infuriated by this fact.
Xiyu had proven quite useful, he almost felt like he was working alongside Vexen again. Her knowledge of the heart, soul, by any other name, had allowed Zexion to move much faster in this designs than the snail's pace he felt he was doomed to when he began to recruit random heartless. The lesser nobodies had truly stumbled on a prize when they found her.
Nixma of course was as frustrated as an emotionless shell could be, seeing the 'new girl' getting all the attention. And Knoxra was proving to be a delicious sparing partner for Kurix, Knoxra's bag of tricks matching Kurix's in size.
This left Nixma with a fair amount of alone time, since she was given the job of searching for new nobodies, but finding shells of strong willed people who had lost their hearts to darkness wasn't easy. In particular now that the cosmic cancer of the heartless had gone into remission. She ran into plenty of opponents she could 'play' with, but none she could recruit into their numbers.
Stupid Zexion, destroying the perfectly good shell she found, and all because Zexion felt it was likely the new guy would stab them all in the back. What Nixma didn't know was that Zexion already could tell that Nixma had the makings of a new Larxene, the same Larxene who had betrayed the Organization along with Marluxia. She didn't know how close Zexion had come to killing her in her sleep (though sleeping was more a luxury than a necessity). However, Zexion knew a personality like Larxene's wouldn't betray the cause unless she had someone to push her along. And there was the freezing, well, it wasn't hatred, Nixma couldn't feel that emotion, but she did keep finding the image of ripping the heart of her somebody to very pleasing, and that focus insured her loyalty to the cause. Unlike Roxas being kept from being told anything, Zexion had no reason to keep Nixma in the dark. She walked the twilight, like all of them.
Zexion had ordered that for now they keep away from worlds in the sphere of influence of Radiant Garden and Disney Castle, least the three abominations took notice of their activities. The abomination Riku, Kurix's somebody, a mortal creature who could wield the power of the Dark and yet was not enslaved by it, an impossibility. The abomination Sora, whose heart had held onto it's sentience after being forcibly removed from his body and becoming a heartless, something only one other being had done in recorded history, but still supposed to be impossible. And finally the most impossible yet numerous of the abominations, Princess Kairi, whose heart held no darkness when darkness was supposed to be half of -everything-! True, there were six more abominations just like her, but this abomination also now held a keyblade like the other two abominations Sora and Riku.
Nixma walked among the crystal garden, full of dead plants because this world had no sun. She walked among the crystal park gallery, full of sculptures that would never be done, one in particular because it was done by a psychopath who would be gunned down by police now rather than be purified by Neo Queen Serenity. She walked among the grassy fields beyond the city limits, as dead as the flowers within from the lack of sunlight. The only thing illuminating this world was the distant stars, and the unnatural glow from the city's crystals, the light felt cold, colorless, like straight sugar, nice, but ultimately shallow.
Sailor V, Sailor V, we love you sailor V. Said her flanking Ivy Blades in their silent voices. 'Said' was all it was, they couldn't love. She wondered if her Ivy Blades had been members of their fan club before losing their hearts. She knew that those was made up of kids. She knew she'd be horrified at the thought if she could feel horror, but she couldn't! So she was okay with the idea. The emulated emotions of her servant nobodies still gave her comfort however.
Thing about dry grass, it's very flammable.
Nixma saw the wall of flames, and leapt up into the air, levitating above the flames, two Ivy Blades weren't fast enough, their shells dissolving into nothingness.
Sailor V!!!
Nixma saw in the center of the flames a short figure acting like a wild cat, flames exploding this way and that from their body. Even from several dozen yards away she could hear what the figure, apparently a she, was saying.
"Who am I? Who am I!!!" Every 'I' finished with a fresh fire blast.
Nixma with a moment of hesitation rushed into the waiting flames, the center of the fires having ironically died down, being the first to burn to ashes. Even on an empty world like this, where there should have logically been no air without any living plants, fire still needed fuel to burn.
True, this hadn't stopped Mars from using her powers as such, but this wild cat clearly wasn't coherent enough to be precise with her inferno.
'Wild cat' Nixma was stunned to realize, was dead on the money. The woman wasn't human, well, Nixma wasn't either, but this woman didn't have a human form! She was a two legged, opposing thumb, two breasted, erect, fully clothed (fire resistant, duh!) purple cat! She was also at least four time taller than Artemis was long.
The wild cat spotted Nixma and a pillar of fire erupted from the ground, she dodged, but it singe her brown hair. "WHO AM I!!"
"Dang lady!" Nixma snapped back, "If you wanted to know so badly, all you had to do was ask."
This seemed to pacify the wild cat for a moment, then for no apparent reason her eye widened and she felt her forehead. "My gem! My gem!! It's gone!! Where is it?!" She then felt the back of her head for apparently the same unapparent reason. "My locks?! Why! What is this!!"
Nixma actually sympathized with her, or, rather, -understood- her on this point, Nixma remembered how Nixma had reacted when she found her hair was no longer blond, and she lost her bow.
Nixma put her hands to her mouth, "You want answers?"
The wild cat glared at her and looked ready to attack her again. Nixma knew better than to try and bind a fire user. Otherwise she'd have dragged her back to the Tokyo That Never Was as a trophy by now. Too bad Zexion had only taught Kurix his little 'trick' so far for giving a Nobody a name. Nixma having placed the bait levitatingly backpedaled, of course, the wild cat followed.
"You can't escape me." The wild cat quoted herself.
It stunned Nixma just how fast the wild cat was! Leaving a trail of smolders in her wake. Nixma was forced to leap frog dark gates to keep ahead with only a few seconds between each one to open and close them behind her.
Kurix and Knoxra sparing outside took note of the chase and the fire cat going through their city and where Nixma was leading her. Knoxra followed directly while Kurix went to report to Zexion.
After ruining several perfectly good carpets, the wild cat had chased Nixma all the way to the meeting chamber. Nixma finally stopped.
"Do you have the answers or not?!" The wild cat snarled.
"Nope, not really, but hang out with us, and we'll find the answers together, that's why I'm sticking around this joint at least."
The wild cat turned around at the new voice and snarled at Knoxra who had appeared blocking the way she had come in. "What!" The cat hissed.
"So much aggression, base instincts with no emotion or Super Ego to bind them. Only impulses to work with, closest thing you can get to feeling something so you dive into them without hesitation. You remind me of Saix." The cold analytical voice came to her left, so spotted the black cloaked figure and a fire ball stuck it, it dissolved into shadows.
"Or a bastard hybrid clone of Saix and Axel." The same voice as before.
The wild cat turned around, and came face to face with the real Zexion, "But in the end, you feel nothing, you can feel nothing lasting, do you want a meaning?" Zexion had memorized Xemnas' speech long ago.
The wild cat's eyes widened and then closed slightly, her arms went limb at her sides. And she demurely nodded.
Alien letters appeared in front of her with a gesture from Zexion, they quickly mutated into english letters. Another gesture, they turned and twisted in a spiral. And finally, Zexion struck the 'X' into the center.
The wild cat calmed down, having something to relatively oppress the animal instincts again.
She looked at the name read it backwards, forewords to everyone else in the room.
"Who Am I, is Lexbaz."
"Your new you, Flame of Iblis."
