This wasn't what was going on. Akane was a full-use slavegirl owned by Ranma Saotome and this was a cleared out camping site instead of the Tendo Dojo. Ranma wasn't cursed. There was also the factor that Ranma REALLY wanted to focus on his specialty - which was the martial arts.
"Ranma!" called out Genma. "If you're planning on training her in the style and assist you, you can't hold back!"
"But..." Ranma said, looking back and forth between his father and his sparring partner.
"You better not think of taking it easy on me," said Akane, her pride getting needled by this apparent hesitation.
"...but..." said Ranma in a small voice as he continued to look back and forth.
"You're not going to chicken out, are you?" asked Nabiki from the sidelines.
"-but-" continued Ranma.
"Hey! I'm a martial artist too, you know!" said Akane, putting her own spin on things.
"-but-" repeated Ranma.
"No special manuevers though," said Genma thoughtfully, "unless she throws one out - then it's all fair game."
Ranma glanced back at Akane then at his father again. Then he shrugged. "Okay. Akane. Come at me with everything you've got."
"Go for it, Akane," said Nabiki. "We all witnessed it. Show him how capable you are."
"I will!" declared Akane, charging forward.
Ranma sighed. The life of a martial artist was fraught with danger, and embarassment.
