"Not a word," growled the girl.
"About what?" said Kaede, shaking her head and moving towards her own place near the fire. "Interesting though."
"What's interesting?" grumbled Ranma.
"Your ears," said Kaede simply.
Ranma reached up and checked her ears. Triangular-shaped ears. "WHAT?!"
"Apparently you grabbed a little bit of that demon when it died," said Kaede. "At least you didn't get that tail."
"True," realized Ranma. "Is there a cure for 'demon ears'?"
"Well, yes, there's the Shikon Jewel," said Kaede. "If Inu-yasha and Kagome succeed in gathering the pieces and then purifying the gem - it can be used to remove such curses."
TWOING! went Ranma's ears, though she was trying to feign casual disinterest. "Yeah. I've heard that one before."
"Originally Inu-yasha was going to try and claim the Jewel to turn himself fully into a yokai. The reverse is also possible, turning a demon into a human," said Kaede. "However - I did mention the quest to gather the shards."
"Yeah, and some idjit named Naraku," said Ranma, using a cup to dip into the stewpot and gather some hot water. "Well, I guess I got a reason to fight this guy then."
"You'll need some power and a bow or other weapon," said Kaede. "Naraku has been known to surround himself with a poisonous miasma that dissolves human flesh."
Ranma looked thoughtful as he poured the hot water over his head. He was willing to debate the first point, but some acid cloud sounded like it could be a major problem. Might have to research that one. There was always a weak point to every defense though - so he was sure he could find it.
"You've got a leek in your hair," pointed out Kaede.
