For some reason, he didn't think that his new slavegirl was one of those individuals.
It wasn't something that he could pin down, but the thing was that he had a feeling that she wasn't going to be one of those who'd gone to become a slave out of some sort of personal desire. Not that it was all that surprising that he could get a slave that was an involuntary conversion. Criminals tended to be turned into slaves so that they could pay back society for whatever it was that they had done. Some were even full use, and he'd heard guys consider those slaves to be more like 'toys' for their own amusement than other slaves, as their criminal backgrounds apparently made them worthy of less respect. Of course, those same guys would also tend to celebrate the ideas such as having a sexy slavegirl who'd been a wild member of an all girl motorcycle gang be their personal and obedient 'bad girl'.
As far as he was concerned, he wasn't about to try for that sort of thing. What he'd done was simply the product of a gut reaction, and even now, he wasn't quite sure as to why he'd picked her. To be honest, he didn't even a plan for how he was going to use her as of yet. Rather, he just knew that even if she was a criminal, he was going to try and be a proper Master to her.
That would be especially the case if she was merely a 'problem child'. Despite happening from time to time, cases of troubled individuals becoming slaves weren't spoken about much of the time. This wasn't something that was spread about, given the sensitive nature of the topic, but everyone knew that a lot of people who couldn't control the direction of their own lives tended to be enslaved for the simple fact that it tended to be easier on them. Attempted suicides, mental 'difficulties', and other such 'issues' were handled with great care, with slave and owner being precisely paired up much of the time. Such things weren't done in the truly 'hard' cases, but if it was seen that all the prospective slave needed was a firm hand to guide him or her, the 'humane' thing was considered to be to give that individual the 'freedom' of not having to stress over making major decisions again.
However, Ranma was pretty sure that he might just prefer to have a criminal as a slave rather than entrust someone with sensitive 'needs' to a clueless jock like him.
