"I thought so," Akane sighed, looking down at the smooth surface of her soup.
"That is, if you expected him ta be able ta do it completely."
"Eh?"
The boy gave her a bit of a shrug. "The professor says that ta do it completely, he'd haveta not only know 'xactly how the original change was done, but he'd have to 'adjust' for all the 'genetic' stuff that was worked around."
"What does that mean?"
"I'd kinda like ta know that myself. He tends ta speak in a lot of science talk that I don't really get. But it boils down ta the fact that he can't turn ya all the way back, but he can do it some of the way."
"Only part of the way?" she scoffed, blowing air out of her nose. "What good is that?"
"Good enough ta have ya looking like a regular girl with added bits, like big muscles, instead of stayin' the same. Unless ya like how ya look now."
Akane raised up one meaty hand, and squeezed it into a fist, noticing the bulk of it, which was so unlike the dainty one of a 'young maiden'. "Yeah right. Do you really think that I like looking like I should be in some sort of myth movie? I'd give anything to be able to be around people again. He really can do it?"
"Sure can. Considerin' how those losers do things, I'm kinda surprised that there ain't more people changed. And someone's gotta help them out... even if they volunteered for the change."
"That was one thing that I could never understand. When they tried to.... I couldn't see why all of them would go through with it. I mean, some sure, but that many?"
"Try ta imagine bein' a yakuza guy, and your boss 'suggests' that ya get changed... while sharpenin' a knife as a bunch of really big guys stand behind him," he answered flatly, his expression not mocking her, but the situation that he described.
"It's happened?"
"The professor's had to do work for the cops."
"Ah. Well, you've got to take me to him. I need his help!"
"'Course. Later."
"What do you mean 'later'?!" the transformed girl snarled, nearly crushing her bowl before catching herself. "This is very important, I'll have you know!"
"And you're still weak from havin' ta hide out here, need ta be snuck around nosy people, and I still need ta make sure that I know where the professor's gonna be when I take ya ta him."
"Oh."
Watching the massive girl subside and lean back against a tree, he smirked. "I know 'bout these things."
"Glad someone does."
"Hey, at least I don't have ta ride ya, or somethin'. I can handle gettin' 'round all by myself."
"Glad ta hear that."
"Hey, ya also don't have ta ride me, either."
For a moment, Akane nodded along with his words... and then blushed as a naughty image popped into her mind. Her cheeks started heating rather quickly, and she wondered where it had come from. Putting that aside, she tried to focus on the bit of hope that she'd gotten, while:
