“Why does it have to be someone I know, or even real?” Ranma groused. “Can’t I make up a person? Use someone from a manga? Or try a historical but dead guy?”

“Stop your whining, Saotome. But that is not a bad idea.”

Ranma paused in thought. “How cool would it be to base the guy off of the Hitokiri Battōsai.”

“Why not make one inspired by Jubei, of the Yagyu clan?” Nabiki was always partial to the pulp fiction version of Jubei Yagyu. “Or, since we still need a battle mage to cast offensive magic, someone like Lina Inverse.”

Ranma snorted. “Because then the girls would outnumber the boys two to one. I get outnumbered by girls all the time already. Why Lina, why not Xellos?”

Nabiki shuddered. “Ugh!” They both grew quiet, trying to think of good candidates. Nabiki snapped her fingers as the proverbial light bulb lit up over her head. “Why not Syaoran Li?”

“Who?” Ranma was confused by the name.

“You never read Cardcaptor Sakura?”

Ranma gave Nabiki a disgusted look. “Isn’t that a little girl’s book?”

Nabiki huffed. “Whatever. How about Adonette? ... Oh fine, a guy then ... Van Von Hunter?”

“Is he a magic user?”

“Er, Gandalf, Dr. Strange, Merlin, Taro Urashima, Gohan, Goku, Howl, Arsène Lupin the Third, Negi Springfield ... It doesn’t have to be a magician, you know. Just pick someone already.”

Ranma waved her off. “Yeah, yeah. What ever you say. How about I choose...
