He looked on in shocked anger at the scene in front of him. Everything around him was being consumed in flames; not a single building was left unscathed. The heavens were black with smoke, hiding the Earth as it rose into the night sky. From his vantage point he saw not the glorious city he had expected, but a war zone. He could not believe that such a catastrophe could happen here in the very heart of the Silver Millennium.
This was NOT how things were supposed to be! Today was supposed to be a day of rejoicing; a day when he could at last be with his beloved Serenity and their daughter. The three of them were supposed to be reunited today as the family they should have been; a family that had been broken apart by the fear and hatred of the various Lunar nobles a century ago before it could even fully begin.
Those piggish nobles and their self-serving ways; oh how long had he dreamed of their slaughter. Those *&$)^@! had the nerve to say that HE was an 'unacceptable' spouse for the then princess Serenity. When Serenity had managed to ascend to her mother's throne, she had tried to get him back as her king. However, those nobles were able to block her moves and had even dared to try and get one of their own as the new king.
Serenity may have been a new queen at that time, but she was a shrewd person. Queen Serenity, with the help of her friend Sailor Pluto, left the Lunar Palace one night and came to the inn that he had been staying at. That night they married in secret and conceived their only daughter Princess Serenity. With the fact that Serenity was with child and the disappearance of the Golden Crystal, signifying the choosing of a king by the queen, those nobles had their plans ruined.
However, as much as the fact angered him, things in the Silver Millennium were still too dangerous for Queen Serenity to be able to get him to return and assume his rightful place by her side. Slowly, with understanding and dagger, Queen Serenity was able to get things ready for his return. Today, on the birthday of their daughter, he was supposed to return and give princess Serenity all of the birthday gifts that he had never been able to get sent to her.
Instead of that great and wonderful dream happening; he was having to watch his beloved Serenity's kingdom burn. Grinding his teeth, ----- said, "Hope however has done this that God takes mercy on your soul, for I shall give none."
