‘Ah… this is such a nice change of pace…’ Ranma mused as he walked to school on his own. He quite enjoyed the fact that for the first time in the last year or so, he didn’t have a nagging, raging, permanently PMS-ing brat hounding his every step. It gave him time to think on things, most notably his plans concerning certain denizens of Nerima.
‘Now… I wonder who’s going show up first?’ He wondered. Seeing as how plans didn’t even seem to make it to the first conflict around him, he had, instead of drawing up specialized plans that required specific factors to work, made general outlines on how he wanted a confrontation to turn out.
In other words, he was going to, as usual, wing it.
It wasn’t like he could do anything else, though; the inherent chaos (or would that be Chaos, with a capital ‘C’?) around him wouldn’t allow for a better plan without it having a high likelihood of spectacularly and most likely fatally blowing up in his face. And as amusing as it would be to see everything around him go to hell in a hand basket, he would rather not die anytime soon, thank you very much.
His musings were interrupted when a familiar aura appeared at the edge of his senses. It was coming in fast, and already he could hear the cheerful “ding ding!” of a bell. “Well, well… ask, and ye shall receive…” he whispered, right before stepping off the chain-link fence he’d been walking on. The bit of metal he’d been standing on moments before was immediately and impossibly bent by a bicycle driven by a purple-haired beauty.
A brief look of confusion flashed across her face, before it took on that giddy and slightly air-headed look that was the norm when she was alone with him. He was pretty sure that was going to change sometime soon.
“Nihao, Airen! Take Shampoo on date, yes?” she asked in her usual mix of Mandarin and broken Japanese. One would think that after living in the country for almost a year, one would at least learn the damn language… She moved to give him her infamous glomp, and he sidestepped to avoid it. That look of confusion reappeared, now mixed with a look of annoyance that was almost child-like, as if she were a… well, CHILD that had lunged for a cute little critter of some kind and missed. It was surprising because the girl usually responded to annoyance with a ‘You I kill!’ mentality.
This apparent contradiction in personality prompted Ranma to activate his aura sight (well, maybe not ‘activate’, exactly; it had was always been on, but it wasn’t very specific unless he focused), and he saw something that instantly changed his views on the girl.
He’d always thought of the girl as a pest at best, who’s few good points (cheerful, affectionate, and open in a certain way) were far outweighed by the bad (spiteful, ruthless, with a clear disregard for human life). But if what he was seeing was true, then his assessment was far from close.
For, according to her aura, Xian Pu…
