The being was frustrated. Around it the world pools sparkled. Each one depicting its own unique timeline. Each one a portal to a different world, each with its own unique characters, many of which were in some way involved in a wild and fascinating adventure. And this was exactly why the being was so frustrated.
He had looked into all the pools! Seen ALL the possible timelines that each world could have. There were no possibilities that it had not accounted for. Here was an immortal creature dwelling among an infinite amount of television screens, each showing a different program, and it had seen them all. It had even watched the replays. And now, though it should be impossible, there was nothing else to watch!
The creature, lets call it Bobby, grumbled to itself. Now it would have to spend eternity all alone watching a bunch of shows that it already saw at least as hundred times already. It desperately wished for something to happen to alleviate the dreaded sense of boredom it was currently experiencing.
“WHERE THE HELL AM I NOW!?”
The creature turned around to see a young Japanese boy with a yellow bandana, an extremely heavy looking backpack and an umbrella who holding a map in one hand while taking in his surroundings.
YES, the being thought, a distraction!
“Hey buddy, do you know the way to the Tendo Dojo?” asked the boy who had finally spotted the Being.
“Hm, the Tendo Dojo you say? I think I know what you’re talking about, there’s one in world 354787BA64WEQ.” The being began, “Yes it’s the one with all those martial artists that turn into things because of water. In fact you look a lot like one of the people form that world. Your name wouldn’t be Ryoga Hibiki would it?”
“Huh, you know me?” asked Ryoga while trying to figure out what the hell the being meant by world 3547BA64WEQ.
“Of course!” replied the being “I know all about you. I know your future, your past, and all the different ways in which your life could unfold.”
“Really?” asked Ryoga “Then if you know so much, can you tell me, do I ever get together with Akane?”
“Akane,” the being muttered “Oh right, she’s that girl with the mallet! Nah, sorry kid but she gets together with that Ranma guy in 50% of the timelines. And even when she doesn’t she’s usually too bitter to really care about you. Spends the rest of her life trying to get revenge on the dude.”
“But, but” said Ryoga, and aura of depression forming around him “Surely there are SOME timelines where we end up together.”
“Oh there are” replied the being casually “’Course in most of them she finds out that you’re really P-Chan and tries to kill you. Then there are the timelines where you get together with Akari. But then finds out you’ve been sleepin’ in another girl’s bed and, well it doesn’t end pretty.”
“You mean that I’ll never find happiness, that I’m doomed to spend eternity alone!” Ryoga lamented, his aura now reaching epic proportions.
“Yep,” the being who was oblivious to the lost boy’s ever growing depression said “But relax man its not in all the timelines..just most of ‘em.”
“Damn it!” Ryoga cried “Its all Ranma’s fault! Shi Shi Hokudan Perfect!”
The giant ki blast slammed into a sizable portion of the pools, vaporizing a great deal and mixing the waters of those that survived.
The beings eyes widened at what it beheld. This was catastrophic! It ran over to the pool that was forming from the mixed waters.
Not only were a large amount of pools destroyed, but now a new unbalanced world was forming. But it was a doomed world! There were too many villains from the various survivor pools and not enough hero types. This was disaster, a horrible terrible incident it was…a new story.
Yes, thought the being, this isn’t so bad. The damage has been done, I just need to find some way to counterbalance the evil in the new world and, more importantly, I won’t be bored anymore!
The being looked around the remaining, untouched pools.
I just need to put someone from these other worlds into the new one and place him in the new one. Hmm, who to choose. It should be someone light oriented, or at least someone willing to be the “good guy.” Furthermore, it should be someone who would actually be able to make a difference in the new world.
After much deliberation, the being decided to choose:
