Temple Days: Bubastis or a reasonable facsimile [Episode 20389]

Ranma wandered around the empty corridors, his feet occasionally crunching through sand that seemed to have drifted through cracks.

"Welcome to Bubastis, Ranma Saotome," said a woman's voice.

"Who's there?" Ranma asked, looking around.

"I am Bastet."

"Okay, Bastet," began Ranma, "why am I here?"

"A person of your acquaintance named Mousse got together with someone else of your acquaintance named Happosai. Your removal from their lives is what they sought, and so Mousse gained a scroll to send you to a dark and hellish world where you would be eaten despite all your martial arts prowess."

"That explains why I vaguely remember Mousse's voice mumbling something," admitted Ranma. "This place don't look that bad though."

"That is because I caught you. There is an aspect of your training you have not completed."

"Like what?" Ranma asked the walls. Was the corridor brighter in this direction?

"The Nekoken."

Ranma froze. "Say what?"

"Your fear of cats, your loss of control. Both of these are because the training was performed incorrectly and not finished. You are not able to access the full power of the Nekoken."

Ranma considered. Where could he run to? On the other hand it WAS more martial arts training.

"Choose Ranma Saotome. You may go backwards and enter the stygian realm of the 443rd layer of the Abyss. You may go forward and learn the true power of the Nekoken. You may stay where you are and starve to death in time. The choice is entirely yours."
