Gate of Light: Pluto's Musings [Episode 203987]

by Linnara

The pretty Senshi screamed something inarticulate and threw everything she had into trying to heal the broken body before her. Again and again she tried, not aware of her largely incoherent pleas for him to come back.

Finally some of the AEGIS personnel pulled the despondent and exhausted girl off the corpse.

Ahh, yes, this scene right here - Pluto sighed and moved her hands over the Time Gate section control board, freezing the scene with Saturn's crying face, incoherent with grief. Splice this in right between this scene and that scene and - yeah, yeah, Operation Preemptive Propaganda Strike was forming up nicely, if she said so herself. OK, now, send the newest version here and here, and -

And now for some of the other things. There'd been some things about that little conversation with the Count...

Did you honestly think that you could maintain two discrete quantum versions of the same individual in the same timeline? You know better than that.

How very odd - it was like the Count actually thought that 'Tenjin Ranko' was some kind of 'different quantum version' of Saotome Ranma that's she'd brought in from an different timeline, or something like that!

Pluto hummed for a while, thinking, while she rechecked the Time Gate's subspace bubble's various programs for this nth time that day. She didn't think the Court could or would schedule another 'little visit' any time soon, but then, she hadn't expected the first 'little visit' either, frankly...

OK, so that did mean one thing clear as far as she could see - the Count apparently did not know that Pluto herself had practically created this particular version of 'Tenjin Ranko' from scratch, using tons and tons of Gate Of Light energy in the process.

Pluto thought about it some more, and decided to check up on that particular female Saotome Ranma analoge - Tenjin Ranko - that's she'd based her 'Tenjin Ranko' VR program template on, just in case. Yep, she seemed to be right were she should be, in her own timeline, eating lunch with her friends...

OK, then. Pluto sighed, then - those Invaders were darn hard to understand, sometimes. Well, more then just sometimes, actually - why would he or it or whatever the Count really was think that she'd think that bringing in a different version of Ranma from another timeline into this timeline be a good idea, anyhow?

...Oh, well, OK, now that she'd thought about it, there very well might be times were that might be a good tactic to use, but...

Or - no. Pluto stopped a moment, thinking to herself. What if - ??

...No, no, that really was an idiotic idea. How could the Count of all beings, with all his - it's - experience with diddling with the intelligent beings of this Star System, not realize that Starseeds quite often could and did - 'multi-task'? It was supremely unlikely that in his long - existence, he'd never, ever realized that sometimes, multiple beings just happened to have the 'same soul', if not the exact same personality or anything like that.

Right?

Unless...

No...wait a minute. Just what kind of state was the Counts Starseed in, anyhow?

...Hmmmmmmmm.....

Well, OK, note to self - try check up on the Count's Starseed status if at all possible.

And back to the problem of that little conversation...

"When next we meet she will be a Dark Senshi," said Count Devil's voice. "Plus she'll have the Minus Gate version of the Gate Of Light. It should be quite interesting, don't you think? A glorious darkness indeed."

Okay, Number One - just who was the Count talking about when he was talking about a 'Dark Senshi', Hotaru or 'Tenjin Ranko'?

And if he was talking about 'Tenjin Ranko', just where did he expect the Senshi powers to come from?

And Number two - the minus version of the Gate of Light? To think that the Court of all beings actually seemed to think that such a thing had a real chance of coming into existence...

But...hmmm. This was the Court, after all - there was a possibility that he just knew stuff about Gatekeepers and their Gates that she didn't.

So she'd better have a couple of sets of plans ready, just in case.

...But before that...

Her fellow Senshi were probably going to be wanting some explanations of why images of her - well, 'Sailor Pluto' that is - was being plastered all over the evening news, she supposed... Even if it wasn't like she was really recognizable.

Ahh, such was life.
