ANDFR: Any Sufficiently Advanced Technology [Episode 204978]

by Kestral

The Dalek 'death-ray' was a disruption field. It was equally effective against Cybermen, tanks, and various 'soft targets' like humans.

Those who typically fought Daleks usually had to come up with very high powered weapons to use against the mutant-squids in their tank-like survival modules.

Once they'd hit the apparent leader of the opposing group with a beam, they'd watched for any sign that she'd resisted it so that they could adjust the attack. She'd gone down, which was an indication that the Heavy Weapons Dalek wouldn't need to unleash one of their limited store of AM-grenades from the launcher.

As for the other humans, they were located in two groups. One huddled around the speech-giving one's corpse, the other group being down the street and behind another building. Apparently utilizing the primitive audio-visual transmissions that this planet had to communicate their terror to the rest of the species.

Not that it would do them any good.

"THE QUE-STI-ON RE-MAINS," screeched one Dalek. "WE HAVE SUR-VI-VED BY FLEE-ING THRU SYS-TEM MAL-FUNCT-ION THE TIME WAR. OUR SHIP WAS DE-STROY-ED. WE ARE ALL THAT RE-MAINS OF THE DA-LEK SPE-CI-ES. WE ARE ALONE."

"WE ARE ONE DO-ZEN. TWE-LVE."

"OH. THA-NK YOU," screeched a third. "LIKE WE DON'T KNOW WHA-T A DO-ZEN MEANS."

"SI-GNS OF MEN-TAL CON-TAM-IN-ATION," screeched a fourth.

"SO WHAT?" screeched the first. "PRO-BLEM REMAINS. ONE DOZEN DA-LEK INSUFFICIENT TO REBUILD SPECIES."

"WARNING! TAR-DIS DE-TECT-ED ON E-M TRAN-SMI-SSI-ON!"

All the Daleks went silent as they tapped into the broadcast of a newscrew that had gone to Furinkan High School to see about this other report of a spaceship.

"WELL, THIS JUST SUCKS!" screeched the third Dalek.

"MEN-TAL CON-TAM-IN-ATION," screeched the fourth Dalek.

"THIS ONE HAS UTI-LIZ-ED DALEK IN-TELL-IGE-NCE TO DE-CI-PHER HU-MAN IN-TER-ACTION," said the third. "THIS ONE WAS DE-LEG-ATED AS SUR-VEI-LLENCE TO MON-I-TOR ENE-MY. HEAVY WEAPONS DALEK?"

The one unit whose 'plunger' had been replaced with a grenade launcher rotated its eyepiece towards the third Dalek.

"SAVE AMMU-NI-TION," screeched the third Dalek. "MORE INFO-R-MAT-ION NEED-ED FOR PLA-NNI-NG NEX-T MOVE."

"UNDER-STOOD," said the Heavy Weapons Dalek.

"What happened? Is she going to be all right?" asked Mars, leaning close to Sailor Moon.

"That energy beam is some sort of disruptive field," said Mercury. "It negated the Senshi transformation and knocked her out. A second attack would have killed her. I think she'll be all right - but it's going to take some time."

Sailor Venus scrambled back from the section of wall she'd been hiding behind. "They're planning something. Apparently there's only twelve of them and so they're not quite sure what they can do. They also apparently are deserters from some war."

"So they brought their war here? Let's teach 'em not to come here," said Mars.

"Except that we don't know what our attacks will do," said Mercury. "They're surrounded by some kind of forcefield and heavily armored."
