Well.... crazy enough to delay his journey to the sixth gym in Mahogany.
Of course for Ash, crazy is normal. He faced off against a mad psychic pokemon clone named Mewtwo(something he still doesn't remember, even after rescuing that same Pokemon later in Mt. Quena), averted destruction of the world by chaotic weather, rescued his mother from a crystal tower created from a little girl's imagination, broke a Team Rocket member's control over the legendary time-traveling pokemon Celebi, and other usually 'crazy' stuff. Heck, he just rescued a pair of Lugias that dwelled in the Whirl Islands.
Note: That was synopsis of the first four Pokemon feature films and a set of Whirl Island episodes in that paragraph.
But what he, Brock, Misty, and their Pokemon went through involved(and as always involved Jesse, James, and Meowth)...
