A Tale of Two Souls: Martial Hearts [Episode 205703]

by Errol Peregrinus

That’s it. A left, a right, the Saotome-Combo... ooh, that had to hurt.’ Ranma’s soul-mate was cheering on her beloved’s fight with his father. Either Ranma had practice in tuning her out, or she was careful to not disturb him, as his focus was solely on a panda beat-down. Then the rain came and it became a literal panda beat-down.

Oh, pooh,’ the soulmate thought to herself. ‘Ranma is weaker as a girl, and his father can soak up a bit more damage as a panda.

The fight raged on, drawing many curious onlookers. The sight of a girl and a panda holding a knock-down, drag-out kempo brawl in the streets was a novel and singular one, even in Nerima. Down streets and over rooftops, the battle was waged and fought. Had Ranma’s soulmate ever seen Every Which Way but Loose, an American movie with a fist fight that took its combatants through many buildings and businesses, she would of thought that the movie didn’t hold a candle to this fight. Ranma and his father were entering more businesses and causing more property damage than any filmmaker could ever hope to imagine. It eventually ended when the panda sucker punched the girl with a neon sign. Tossing the girl over his shoulder, the panda bounded off.

“What kind of guy is this Ranma?” Kasumi asked her father rather heatedly.

“He he he. No idea,” Soun reluctantly admitted.

“No Idea?” Nabiki leaned closer to her father.

Soun shrugged. “I never met him.”

Anything more that the family may have discussed was interrupted by a polite knocking on the door.

“Someone’s at the door,” Kasumi needlessly announced.

Nabiki shot up and squealed, “Ooh, it must be Ranma.” Soun followed his daughter out to the door. Soon, both came running back in, followed by a big panda.

“It’s a wild animal!” Akane pointed to the panda, which was carrying a sack over his shoulder.

Soun turned to face the wild creature, keeping his daughters behind his outspread arms. “Do you think it’s dangerous,” he asked.

The animal stood there and proudly displayed the bag, before looking at it in confusion. Opening it up, he began to pull out what looked like dirty laundry.

“Do you think he wants someone to do his laundry?” Kasumi asked her father.

Soun shrugged. “I don’t know.”

Nabiki slipped away quietly to call animal control.

Meanwhile, across town, Ranma was riding on a train. ‘And I left Pops holding the bag.’ He and his soulmate chuckled at his pun. Ranma had found some hot water to turn back male. And not to soon, as he had ran into some police officers looking for a girl that witnesses said was guilty of animal cruelty, disruption of the peace, and vandalism.

But Ranma didn’t mind. Now that he was running off to meet a very special girl, he didn’t think about his father, the owner of the laundry bag he used to body switch out of Genma’s grip, or whom ever it was his father wanted him to meet. Not a single thought, as all he could think about was that very special girl.

Won’t be long now. I can not wait to introduce you to my friends.’ Ranma’s soulmate told him.

Ranma smiled. ‘I can’t wait to meet’em

I can’t wait to kiss you!’ Ranma could feel the honest intensity and emotion roil through the link with that last statement.

Smiling, Ranma sat back in his seat, eagerly and impatiently waiting to meet...
