"So, what sort of enemy are we up against, Cas?" Usagi asked as she took a sip of the lemonade he had made.
"Well he's a mage. He discovered his affinity for summoning and connecting with fictional universes about the time he summoned me. As far as his intentions go, he mainly wants to create a harem of girls from fictional universes, and have enough money to never have to worry about money." Cas frowned. "But after getting the initial source of cash, he summoned a precognitive to help invest it properly, and learned about Crystal Tokyo. The Pre-Cog's visions convinced him that there was no way he could co-exist with you guy's, so he started planing to take action pre-emptively."
"He's your friend, isn't he?" Usagi asked.
Cas blinked. "Well, he was. . . I mean he was the first friend I had, but once he started planning to take you on, he's acted less and less like my old friend." Then he looked up and smiled. "But that's why I came to you. You see, initially he was more in favor of jumping to a parallel universe rather than taking you on. If you can take out his ace in the hole, he's already got an evacuation plan ready to implement."
"What is this Ace in the hole?" Setsuna asked quietly.
Cas took out a crystal and put it on the table. "It's this." He tapped the crystal, and it projected an image."
"That looks like a bomb." Ami whispered.
"HE'S GONNA NUKE US??!!" Usagi screamed fearfully.
"It's not nuclear! I mean, if this went off fifteen feet away from you, the blast would knock you down at most." He taped the crystal and started bringing up schematics. "It's a Reality Bomb."
"He's a reality mage, and he's studied different realities. One thing he discovered is that in every reality the interaction between the inanimate and the soul bearing produces different 'world laws', rules which define how everyone interacts with reality and with each other." He glanced at the girls. "One of the reasons you've been able to defeat your enemies even if they were much stronger than you is because long ago Queen Serenity was able to change the world laws so that essentially reality itself is helping you win."
Rei glanced at Usagi. "That explains a few things."
Usagi scowled and looked over. "Are you trying to say something Rei?"
"Please you two!" Ami commented, looking up from where she was peering at her computer. She looked at Cas. "Are you saying that this bomb can change the nature of reality so that we are suddenly at a disadvantage against our enemies?"
"Are virgins. . . Ah, sorry, sorry." Cas sheepishly bowed and rubbed the back of his head. "Force of habit. But in answer to you question when the bomb goes off that's exactly what will happen. Or at least once he gets it perfected."
"So it doesn't work yet?" Minako commented thoughtfully.
"It works, it just only affects a small area, and it wears off after a few hours. He's trying to expand it's area of effect and make it last a lot longer."
"Still if we try to take out his work in progress he might use one of those older models, what can we expect?" Michiru asked.
"Depends on what he sets off. He's been working of a whole bunch of realities, trying to find just the right one. There's one that basically enforces that line 'Evil will always triumph, because Good is dumb.' He didn't try to develop that one because he's not sure he's evil enough.
"There's another that makes conspiracy betrayal and sneakiness the method the universe encourages, another that makes people get more effective when they get depressed, and some where the attitudes of the worse chauvinist pigs are encouraged." Cas put his hand behind his head. "Aheh, there's a couple from my world and some close by. . . I don't think you want the details. The important thing is, he's got a 'super reality bomb' ready to go that will probably change all of Tokyo for about a month. He's still setting things up and planning to set it off tomorrow night. So if you take it down first, he'll probably decide to run."
"Where is it?" Haruka asked.
As Cas described the details, he sighed inside. Most of what he had told them was true. Of course he hadn't told them about the flaws in Queen Serenity's method of reality manipulation. Flaws that would cause the Silver Crystal to augment and extend the effects of a reality bomb exploding right next to it, especially with the magic potion Usagi just drank enhancing that part of her link to the crystal. 'Just a little more, and it's done.'
