"I am Vengeance... I am the Night... I... Am... Batman!"
At first, it was the martial arts side of the character that interested him (Batman was certainly one of the DC universe's top hand-to-hand fighters). Then, as he read further comics, he began to appreciate the Dark Knight more and more.
Ranma admired Bruce Wayne's dedication to his mission, his fighting prowess and his intellect. Boy, had Ranma often wished he was as smart as the Batman. The gadgets, the villains, the atmosphere... He liked it all. He had also gotten hooked on the recent Batman cartoons.
And as a sidenote, Batman seemed to attract girls (er... women) as much as Ranma did but didn't let them rule his life. Now, THAT was worthy of respect in his eyes.
But the most important reason why Ranma liked Batman was a simple one: He was human. He had no superpowers of any sort and yet saved the day again and again with only his body, mind and training. As a martial artist, Ranma could get behind a fictional character who had earned his abilities through sweat, blood and willpower.
Of course, Batman wasn't alone in his fight against crime. Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Oracle... Ranma knew and liked them as well.
That's what he wanted to be now! He would be a dark hero, protecting the innocent and spreading fear into criminals' hearts and not some moronic martial artist everybody made fun of.
In Time, the Great Will was taken from Ranma but his little plan worked like a charm. After all, it wasn't as if he had asked for some kind of huge power-up (chances were that it would have tipped the higher-ups off).
Soon, the underworld would know fear as Ranma had become...
